lowering springs

OOOOh glad i saw this thread :)

I am currently running GR2s and S-Techs in my car, it was a stupid mistake and they are bing swapped out this week for a nice suspension. First off (at least on my first gen) it dropped my car more than 2 inches in the front and not as much in the rear. I had less than a 2 finger gap up front. Secondly, with a lowered car the GR2s will NOT be able to handle the springs because of the drop. My shocks/struts were shot within 3-4 months of going with this combo.

You will need aftermarket shocks and camber adjustment with any lowered setup.

I you're working with a small budget like I always am I would go with KYB AGXs which can be found for $300 on ebay, Pro-Kit springs for $200 on ebay and the rear camber issue can be fixed for $5 http://vfaq.com/index-main.html :)

hope this helps!

Well Said ^^

I am running Tokico HPs with my Eibach pro-kits and they are holding up great and gives a nice ride. With any lowering I would recommend the homebrew camber kit for the rear of your car.

On a side note the KYB GR2's are basically a stock replacement strut, I would recommend a strut upgrade if you are lowering your vehicle any amount.

So a good setup would be as following........a good lowering spring, kyb agx(are there any cheaper alternative?) and i would only have to worry about the REAR camber, not the FRONT?

What are some alternatives as to non adjustable struts, and do they work as well as the AGX's? I am pretty sure im going to go with the Tein S lowering springs wich is a 1.5 inch drop, so know i need to decide on the struts im going to use, and i only need to worry about the rear camber correct?

Well I am using Tokico HP's which is a non adjustable strut and they have held up and worked wonderful, they give a nice ride. Yes I would say they would work with the Tein S lowering springs because they work with the Tokico Lowering Springs that lower 1.6". The rear camber is a must to fix. With the 1.5" drop you are getting its up in the air as far as front camber. If you were saying you were dropping 2" I would say front camber is a must but your not. Personally with 1.5" I would not get a front camber kit but if your anal about it then it would never hurt.

I might as well do it right the first time, so i'll be going with the illumina kit, i just fear that 1.5 inch lowering will cause to many scraping problems.

That is true, but, i can get tokico illumina adjustable struts+there lowering springs for under 500 dollars including shipping, i think that is my best bet. Now my only question is with the camber kit, i am going to get one, but i have no idea how to install it , should i install it myself or just hand the camber kit to the guys who are going to do the alignment and make them put it on, because the camber kit just looks like a screw with 3 washers.

Your best bet would be to ask the people doing the alignment if they would do it, if not its very simple to do yourself and if you follow the directions on the link above you will be set. Just make sure you do it before you go and get an alignment.

As for the camber kit, you dont really need a "kit" but follow the link above and it will tell u what you need from your local hardware store

After reading that link im kinda confused about it. Am i supposed to check my camber just by eyeing it? Or would a shop know to do this if i told them to?
