Hi,

Im having some problems with my power windows as the title says...the problem is, my passenger side window will roll down SOME of the time, you press it once, it will go down, some other time, you press it again, it wont...but it will NEVER go up.

The only way I can get it back up is to take off the door panel, and run jumperes to the motor.

Doing that I have ruled out the actual motor itself because it rolls up or down FAST. I think it may be the relay, but I was thinking that the relay for driver and passenger window were the same thing.

At first it thought it may be a awitch also, but it wont work on either side.

I really need help figuring this out, as it is real annoying having to take the door panel off when I get home after goin into town, but anyway thanks is advance for the help,

Evan

Something to keep in mind about the switches:

On my passenger door, it would sometimes go up, sometimes go down. Everything checked well, but I noticed the switch felt a little spongy. What had happened, the black part of the switch, the part I actually lift on to operate it, is just a clip-on extension thing for appearance. The base of it had cracked, and it was wobbling over the actual switch. I would move the black part, but it wouldn't move the switch. I epoxied it on, and it works great now.

May not be your issue, but worth checking out, or keeping in mind, at least.

First off, thanks for the help guys,

Defiant - When you say check the switch, what exactly am I checking for? The contacts looked clean on the pass. side, and it is all still together right, also, dont know what the voltage going to the switch is (forgot to check,) but the voltage from the wires showed only like 0.36 volts when I pressed up on the the switch...

So where should I go from now guys??? Just tell me what to do, and I will test it...I got ###### anything I need to do it with, Just dont really know what, or how to check it...haha...

Thanks Again,

Evan

I was having a similar problem with the windows, I just picked up a couple new switches from the junkyard and plugged em in, everything works again. Often the copper wears away in the switches which causes them to work only sometimes.

You have 0.36V out of the switch, how much going into the switch? You are looking for 11.5V or more.

ok, does anyone know a place that has the switches, both driver and pass. side??? None of the junkyards within driving distance has any 1st gen dsms...(trust me, been there done that!!!)

or does anyone have a set they can sell, really need to try these...

Thanks

Sorry Locke, I just noticed your post, honestly I am not sure what the voltage to the switch is...if you or someone could tell me the pin number on the harness to check, ill run out and do it asap...

I was having a simmilar problem, my passenger side switch would work sometimes and the drivers side switch for the passenger window did not work at all. I had a an extra drivers side switch and replaced it but it still did not work, I thought there was a short somewhere or somthing. I bougt another passenger side switch so that it would at least work on one side and when I installed it it made the drivers side work again too. So if the passenger side switch is bad it can affect the drivers side switch too.
