Ok so I just got a e-mail back from Darren at FFWD about a butcher crank. He said that it was a reconditioned crank that was 10/10 or undercut .010 on both the rods and mains. What does that mean undercut? I've never heard of this term before, will it work with my eagle h beams? Thanks

basically when they reconditioned it the took 10 thousandths of an inch (.010) off the rod and main bearing lobes in order to use it yu need to by .010 oversized bearings.

Thanks guys! Where can I get the bearings at? I already have clevite rod bearings sittin in a box on my floor.

I just got off the phone with Ray over at Turbo Garage, where I got my parts, and he said that they are hard to come by and in the 7 years that they have been building dsm's they have never done over sized bearings.

Side note, Turbo Garage was an excellent shop to work with. Ray was very helpful and I received my order 4 days after it was placed.

Hmmm, that seems strange, I know places such as slowboy lists different sized bearings on their website, depending on which brand.

So if your guy has never done oversized bearings before, then I guess this means they've never installed a undercut crank before?

Mitsubishi's is simply and only "don't", but they only built the cars. What would they know?

I agree but People do it alot with no problems. Most re-man or pre built motors have cut cranks in them. I would prefer a spec. crank but I would not stop a build for a cut one. Just my .01 (I usually put in .02 but he's a moderator :D )
