I have to go to college in the fall. I can only have one car so I have to decide between my eclipse and my firebird. I already brought it up but didnt come to a conclusion. If I keep the eclipse im going to rice it out w/proformance and looks. If I keep the firebird im going to get a 350cc engine(maybe an LS1 if I have enough $$) with a twin turbo setup. If I were to choose right now, well.... the eclipse doesnt run, turbo needs a rebuild, it has a certificate of destruction, and no driver headlight... Firebird runs like a charm(but that wont matter if I change the engine). SO, what should I DO!?

350 is the perfect motor for a turbo setup. If you have the cash to fork out for a TT setup on the firebird then do that. If you are on a budget build keep the DSM.

I guess it all comes down to which one is in better condition. Myself I hate how the 3rd gen firebirds handle. Have had a friend with a 305 and another with a 350. If you have the TPI 350 thats a good car. If it has the 305 or v6 get rid of that and build the gst.

Personally I don't like how the turd gen Firebirds look, so I'm already leaning towards the Eclipse. Plus, the swap in the Firebird is gonna be crazy expensive and time consuming...but so will fixing up the Eclipse.

So, I guess my questions are: With being a college freshman with only one car, why would you even want to have to spend so much time and money on either car?? Will you have a place to store the car to work on it, and enough money/tools/help to get the work done in a reasonable period of time? Plus, if money isn't an issue, just get a beater, like an old truck, to drive around and transport parts/tow the car while you're working on it. That way you can take your time and not be stuck asking your buddies for rides all the time, because trust me, that gets old real quick.

I say sell 'em both and get a 6-bolt DSM that runs and has a clear title, or an LT1/LS1 Trans Am and save yourself the hassle...but thats just me.

I say if you have a good chunk of extra money laying around than pick a newer trans am and build it. It will look better and be a lot faster a lot easier than your other firebird.

And remember the Firebird will pass everything but the gas stationROFL and at $3.00 or morea gal. that should make your decison easy.
