Im installing shocks and springs on my 95 GS-T. i got everything off but im haveing trouble putting it back to gether. When I try to tighten the 17mm bolt on top the rod of the shock moves with it. How am I suppose to tighten it? I took it off by holding it with some channel locks but the new springs (eibach sportline) won't allow me to get the channel locks back in there to tighten it.

Start the nut as much as possible by hand. Than loosen the spring compressors a little to put pressure on it. Then hit it with an air gun. If you don't have an air gun then use a box end wrench and allen wrench. Hold the strut rod with the allen wrench in the top to keep it from turning.

Dido I had to hold the top with channel locks to do mine. At first it looks confusing but you just need a buddy to hold it for yea.

Ok this is what i tried. I did the same thing but I also put a pair of vice grips up on top and wedged it against a bolt, that way when i tightened the nut the rod wouldn't move. I guess it clamped and came off and messed up the very top where the square is on top and I can't grip it any more. I only got the nut down about a 3rd of the way. Am I screwed now?
