I might be getting some eibach pro lowering springs. basically was wondering if anyone can point me to some decent shocks that I can purchase at local parts stores. I basically want replace the old shocks but with something as good and maybe a bit better. Its on a DD I dont take it out to the track or anything but might now and then.

I have had other shocks on cars replaced before and they leaked so deff want something decent thats as good or better thant the stock shocks.

Let me know thanks.

Highly recommend Tokico Illuma's if you got the money. Otherwise the Tokico HP's and GR2 shocks are cheaper stock replacement shocks that ride nicely.

A common pair up on here is with the KYB AGX's. They are really good adjustable shocks at a resonable price. Some people will argue that they can't handle the lowered springs but a lot of people have been using it with no problems.

I am using KYB GR2's and megan racing springs,on my car and I do not have many issues, it will take most bumps but of course the bigger bumps are rough as shit when I bottom out

KYB GR-2 are stock replacement. KYB AGX are adjustable and they are good for the money.
Might be hard to get them locally. try an online store or from Ebay. I bought mine (GR-2) from there and I haven't had any problem. Just research well about the user and the part before buying.

I decided to go for the GR-2 because of the money and I don't really need an adjustable one. My car is a DD as well and I am not taking turns like crazy. The Gr-2 do there job just fine since the old one where blown.

BTW, a little comment if you lowered too much (using sport line kit or other kind) you will definitely need to use an adjustable shock or a stronger shock...

and please don't forget to install a Bump stopper. You will need it after you lower it.:thumb:

Bump stopper, they need to be bought seperate? Are they to be ordered online or will parts stores have those?

From RRE:

"Eibach Pro Kit Springs

"We strongly recommend purchasing a quality shock absorber along with these springs. They are approximately 20% stiffer than stock. The purpose of the shock is to control the spring energy. Get more spring & you need more shock. If you are on a budget and can't afford both, get shocks only for better handling. If your only purpose is to get all the chicks & look cool with a lousy ride, get springs only."

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Spend an extra $50-100 and get a decent set of struts. The AGX ones work just fine and can be fun to play with. Unless you are a serious racer you don't need the high end sets like illumas or yellows.

Think of it this way, you will kick yourself very hard when you realize you can't stand riding in your car anymore because you didn't bother to do it right the first time. $100 is chump change when it comes to car parts/mods. Skip going out to dinner a couple times or buying beer for a while and you'll get the cash you need. :) You'll blow the cash doing something else short term or be happy long term with the struts. Just my .02

I've had Prokits and GR-2's ever since I got my car and to tell you the truth they work perfect together....never had any problems. The car drives smooth and handles superb. And to correct what someone said above the GR2's are not just a stock replacement, according to KYB they're 10% stiffer than stock even though it's not much. If you're short on cash then get the cheaper GR2's, you won't have any problems but if money isn't a prob then just go with the AGX's.
