DSM noob

hey whats up!? well im new to this board and mitsubishi, my first venture into DSM, my dad just purchased a 93 eclipse GS, its basically his winter car (which he now has 2 ) along with his 90 S-10. ummm i guess his reasoning is he will mainly use it during the winter, i will use it when i want/need to, and eventually when i move out (sr. in HS right now) and my sister becomes old enough to drive in 2 years she will buy it off him.

my car is a 97 toyota celica. ive got alot of stuff on order for it right now and just itching for spring to come so i can put her all togeather! no real plans for the eclipse yet, but id really like to get a head unit and maybe some minor things for it to dress her up a lil and make it really clean looking.

i have no idea about mitsu/DSM engines, whats this thing capable of? i know the 7afe in my celica is a POS, which is why i plan to swap in a different engine in approx 2 years. the eclipse is an AT and the celi is a 5-spd.

well my 1st impressions of my 1st gen eclipse is it totally rocks! not quite the handling the celica has and its not quite the same feel, but its got a lil go behind it and well worth what we paid.

i hope to have some pics of both my celica and eclipse tomorrow, the celi is coming out of the shop tomorrow i cant wait!

yea i realize that AT sucks, my celica is 5spd and i would never buy an AT myself, just personal preference. but since my sister is going to be the eventual owner, it didnt make sense to get an MT.

i doubt ill even get a system, hardly seems worth it since it wont be mine and stereo and electronics are the last thing im doing in my car. i think ill talk my sister into buying a new head unit for it, and i may just paint the interior dash thats about as far as this will go.

DSMs have two very differnt engines. Turbo 2.0 and NonTurbo (NT). Turbo can make 300-400 pretty easy and 500-700 on more extreme car. NT comes stock with 140hp and does not go much higher.

You are not comparing it to the right DSM... You have base model DSM, with most likely, worn out suspension. AWD and turbo cars handle much better.
