accessor belt broke, i know it runs the power steering, and i think the alternator, what else does it run? going to work in an hour if someone could tell me before i go would greatly appricate it. thanks!

also before it broke i noticed i believe the alternator is the most foward pulley u can see, it looked like the pulley was belt or something was going back and forth... you think its just loose or how could it get crooked i dont get it.

thats what i was wondering.. so it does the water pump?

i was hopin it did the alternator / ps / a/c so i could drive small trips if i had to. but if it does the water pump i cant even let it warm up!

Was it an aftermarket belt, or oem one?

Because if your oem one is snapping then it's probably a good indication that you should be changing your timing belt before that one snaps.

Or better yet find out what snapped the belt. The two forward pulleys being the power steering (upper) and alternator (lower).
Power steering doesn't have hardly anything to do with the main belt because it is run on it's own belt off of the water pump, but of course the waterpump is driven off of the main belt.

Maybe the bearings in your alternator are going bad allowing it's shaft to have play and wobble. I would think there would be other signs like noises to indicate that problem though.

I would continue to change your timing belt as scheduled in your service manual. The belts life is going to have no indication on the timing belts life.

nah timing belt was changed recently, it broke cause the alternator pulley was wobbling... havent had the time to find out why yet. ill keep you informed. i work nights so sleep durin the day and its been raining so havent gone out to figure it out yet.

thanks for responses
