Abs

First day of snow today, step on brakes, wheels lock up, ABS doesn't come on, car slides. No pumping noise from pedal, no noise at all, just wheels lock up. If the ABS light doesn't come on, how will I know what's wrong through the diagnostic testing?

It's a 1997 Eclipse GST. This car comes with ABS, right??

Look under the hood, ABS hydrolic control units are pretty big. If you see something like this: http://www.carcare.org/Brakes/abs.shtml (the dsm one is oriented differnt, but you get the idea) you have ABS, if you look behind the engine on the firewall on the passanger side and see only little proporting valve (should be above and slightly to the right from the fuel filter if Im not mistaking) then nope, no ABS.

can also check the fuse box and see if you have a fuse for ABS
