Just Some Food For Thought Here. Long Story Short, I Drove An M3 Over The Weekend. Opened The Hood And Saw A Doule Fuel Rail Setup. One Large, One Small. Its Hooked Up To A "sport" Switch In The Car And It Make A Huge Difference. Would It Be Possible To Make A Double Fuel Rail Setup For A Dsm That Could Turn On With A Pressure Switch Kind-of Like From A Meth Injec. Set? And Maybe Have It Computer Control, Maybe By An Aem Ems, To Change The Vehicle Settings As The System Comes On? Curiousity Gets The Best Of Me.:|
 
wow, can you please never type again..just don't do it. Now i know why this forum is so strict on grammar, and for good reason.
 
Why? Just get big enough injectors that you only need one set. Or just get an intake manfold that is tapped for a secondary set of injectors. If you are making 1000hp that is.
 
Well, Simply For The Fact That With The One Fuel Rail, You Would Use On A Daily Basis To Be Able To Conserve Gas Without Going With Big Injectors, And By Having The Second Fuel Rail As A Power Adder For When Your Looking To Race At The Track.

Also If I Understand Correctly, If You Were To Use Say 550's On Fuel Rail One And Another Set Of 550's On Fuel Rail Two, Both Together Would Be Equal To If Not More Than A Single 1000cc Injector On One Rail.
 
i get the exact same economy with my 850's as I did with 550's as I did with 450's.

It's all in how you tune the car, and just because you open an injector up at WOT doesn't mean you do it at idle or cruise.

The only reason i see for running dual rails in a dsm is:

running straight methanol ala shep & others (8+ 1600cc injectors)
running methanol injection with a second rail (there are much cheaper, and virtually as effective methods to do that, so no point).

I really can't think of any other reasons. with the advent of highly tuneable things like dsmlink, keydiver chips, aem/motec/autotronic/haltech/etc there's no real need for the complication.
 
I personally wouldn't run double, there are enough probs with DSMs as it is, don't need another set of injectors to make it worse especialy when you're not pushing massive hp.
 
I believe its alot cheaper to get 4 1000cc injectors than it is to get 8 550's, and by simply turning up the pressure a little with an afpr you can achieve the same thing with the 4 1000cc injectors. On the other hand, I can understand the bragging point you would have when you popped the hood and had double fuel rails. But wouldn't it be funner to say "You got 12 injectors, I got 4, and I just spanked you down the track. Thats gotta suck..." :D
 
Sorry pearl4gtsi, I just re-read your first post and realized all you asked was "Is it possible?". To answer, yes its possible. You'll find very little (if any) about it because of how inefficient it is for our cars (as everyone has thoroughly pointed out) but it is possible if you just HAD to have it.
 
i dont really have to have it. its just that my friend and i were sitting around talking about my car and possible mods to be different, and it came up. we just on the topic and it would look pretty intimidating when popping the hood, but none the less, i can get the power elsewhere or in a simpiler manner.
