I found out the timing was off by a few teeth. I fixed that and everything was ok. I drove it to work today and half way here it started to sputter a little, kind of like a random misfire. The check engine light came on and it was puttering pretty bad. I disconnected the battery to see if this helped and drove it around the block. It was fine at first then slowly started doing it again. Now I can drive is slow, as long as I stay out of the boost I'm fine.

What do you guys think?
What should I check first?
Can a coil go bad or just out?

:tease: :laser:

Can't this is an OBD0, or OBD1 you can't read OBD0 or OBD1's with anything that Autozone has. That stuff is for OBD2 cars

Oh ok, cool.

Yes I did do the compression check and everything is good now. I also had to seafom it and that is what really helped.

Do you guys think this could be boost leak? I am still at work and have not had the chance to do a leak test yet.

Ok, I drove home last night and the more I drove the worse it got. I could not even take off, but I could rev through it. If I got on it, it would go but sputter the go, sputter then go. I can't see why this would get worse the more I drove.

Here is how to find out your cel

This will cost all of 5 bucks. Go to radio shack, buy a pack of aligator clips, 4 at the least, and buy a buzzer. It is part number part #273-055, it should be a little white buzzer.

Now hook the buzzer up to the clips. Find your access port under your dash near your fuse box. Peel the black cover off.

Make sure the car is at normal operating temp. You do this test with the engine off, but let it warm up and the cel to flash while its on. Turn it off.

Hook the red clip to the top left prong in the access port. This is prong # 1. Hook the other one to prong 12, which is the bottom right.

Next turn your key forward but dont start it. THe buzzer will start buzzing.

long buzzes = 10 short = 1

My ecu kind of went ### at first but then kept repeating the same code.

11 oxyen sensor
12 air flow sensor
13 intake air sensor
14 tps
21 coolant sensor
22 crankshaft pos sensor
23 camshaft pos sensor
24 speed sensor
25 baramotic sensor
31 knock sensor
41 injector
42 fuel pump
43 egr
44 ingition coil

Hope this helps

The thing with that is, when I start the car it is not on. It came on when I was driving home then it would shut off, come back on.

oh ok, so even when the cel is not on it can still tell me?

I have a data loger in the car, it came with it. But I do not have the program to use it. Is there a way to get it?

If the CEL isn't on, you wont get anything as it has no codes stored.

There are plenty of free ODB0/ODB1 datalogger programs. If memory serves me. Check the TECH/DIY and PARTS CATALOG sections of this website.

Pull your plugs and make sure they are gapped 0.28-0.31 mm. Also inspect them for color.
