I have a problem with my greddy rs bov, I did a search but can't find the exact problem. I'm running a blow-through setup with maft on a 1g. Just bought the blowthrough, bov, and maft. After installing it, I followed greddy's proceedure on giving the car quick revs to see if bov is working correctly, it was. I can rev the car in netural and the bov sounds good, one nice blow of air. While driving, it sounds like a chicken, or bird, which ever. I've adjusted the screw all the way to soft and nothing changes except when it's softer the valve seems to be opening on idle, as soon as you give it gas it closes, back to idle and it opens again. Do I have a problem with the vacuum source? the bov source is the stock location on the manifold right? There is nothing "T"ed into the line, it's a straight shot from the manifold to the bov. I have my mbc running from the j-pipe to the wg actuator. Need help fast! don't want to damage my turbo, and this is my daily driver.

How much psi are you running. At low psi your blow off valve isn't going to make a lot of noise because there isn't a lot of air moving out of it. My 1g flutters at 10-15psi then at 21 it sounds like a full Type-S. As always do a boost leak test to make sure there aren't any leaks and make sure it is sealing. Test it up to 20psi.

Yeah my Greddy Type S has kind of a fluttering sound at stock boost and I thought this was a problem. I talked to one of my friends and let him drive it, and he said it wouldn't sound like this at higher boost. You probably aren't running enough boost to keep it open all the way.

i'm running 11psi, i've done a boost leak test, everything is perfect. the fluttering is pretty bad. I just don't what it to be compressor surge and damage something. it's wierd because in neutral i can rev it and it sounds perfect. one nice blow off. Driving it's really loud and very fluttery. I guess i'm just worried that it's compressor surge.

The BOV should be open anytime the throttle plate is closed, like the plate is at idle. If it blows off air after a short rev it's likely working okay, I think your flutter is probably caused by the spring being adjusted wrong for your boost level. Try tightening it up a little and see how it acts, you're running low boost that probably won't damage your turbo right away just by testing the BOV.

ok now this is wierd, i floored the car one strong time and now it's working... so i don't know what happened to cause this. but it seems to be working great now...

ok so the problem isn't fixed. Took it back for a drive after it had cooled off. The bov was fluttering again. So I stopped, reved once and allowed the bov to release a good single burst of air. Then started driving again and it's working great. WTF. What is wrong with my car that makes me have to rev it up in neutral once to get the bov to work properly?

I have the RS and have no problem...the valve doesnt sound like its opening all the way untill you give it a rev...dont understand why though because it sees more of a load under boost than in nuetral free revving...did you ever take the adjustment screw all the way out?

yea my rs makes that fluttering sound when iam around like 10 psi but over 15 its one quick burst, probaly just the design of the valve. i thought the same thing when i first put it on my car

it's wierd though, i can rev once and it works as long as the car doesn't sit and cool down. I just don't get that...

It's not gonna sound like a type-s it's going to flutter as already stated.
