Winnipeg,
Okay so anyways winter is already here..... and its getting cold. But anyways when i turn my car in the morning when its cold.... the belt alternator belt or the two visible belts near the alternator squeal....well thats where the squealing noise comes from. But when the engine warms up it goes away. But when i spray wd-40 or belt degresser it goes away but then that dries up the next day , it squeals when i turn it on the next day. Squeal just last a minute or so. Not too much of a serious problem since it goes away pretty soon....but i'am just wondering why..... i have a new alternator belt and alternator. How can i get rid of this stupid squeal......its a stupid winter problem...LOL.

Also another winter problem i get in the winter is my tranny sometimes stalls when my car is very cold. Like when i reverse and put it in drive i have to drive it like stick, i take my foot of the brake and hit gas pedal fast so my rpm's don't drop to 0. If it does hit 0 it stalls like a normal stick.... and yes i got a shift kit on my tranny. But that never happens in summer or when my tranny is warm. Stupid winter main reasons why i don't drive my car in the winter but i have to this year. But their not serious problems..... but i want to get rid of them.

1) check your harmonic balancer (main pulley) for separation (inner half separates from the outer half).
2) make sure the belts are proper width and tightened enough
3) if timing belt or water pump was replaced, check if water pump pulley was put on backwards which gives the pulley a slight offset (not inline with other pulleys.

I am having this exact same problem.... i noticed small cracks in the belt aswell, check if it's in good condition.

How do i do that...any tutorials.... like.. where is the harmonic balancer.... how can i tighten them... how can i check proper width what is proper width..... how can i tell if water pump pulley is backwards

my car also started making noise it was fine til it started getting cold and it also started shutting off in the cold .

The harmonic balancer is the large pulley on the crankshaft that the other accessary belts are driven from. For tests see: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=169254&highlight=harmonic+balancer.

The belts are too loose if you can press the belt down halfway between two pulleys 1/2" or more easily. Also make sure they have the same width (and number of serpentine grooves) as the pulley and they have no cracks.

The water pump pulley is actually 2 halves put together to make a pulley. It is very easy to put on backwards, however, since it almost looks the same (it then is only slightly offset which will damage belts). To check, sight along the belt from the power steering pump pulley to the water pump pulley. You will see a slight offset if it is backwards (one pulley will be slightly to the right or left of the other one so belt will not be absolutely straight).

Wow rallye, thx for that link! The things he's listing are exactly the same problems i have, ticking+clicking and electronics diming.OMG

But see mine is no clicking or anything its just a squealing noise when i accelrate when my car is cold. Never happens in summer or whenever its warm. But when i spray some degresser it goes away... this usually goes away in less then a minute when car is warm....its obvisouly a weather issue. But i'll try those things out.
