toronto,
i have a 1992 eagle talon tsi awd

i tried searching but still a little bit confused about the plug wires.

i pulled one out and put it under a multimeter. set it to 200k range. shows 9.0 so i donno what range it's supposed to be. i didn't want to just go and replace everything if it's still good.

plus i read that firing order is 4123?

and the 92 doesn't have a cap right? it's direct? from the valve cover passenger side to the drivers side. it's supposed to be 4321 right? so i plug the wires labled 4 into 4 and 3 into 3, 2 into 2.....?

and the other end of the wire goes in what order? cus it's not 2 up and 2 down, it's more like a straight line or a little curve. so from the one that is closest to me would be 4, then 1, than2 than 3? is that how it works?

i donno if it's the wires or what that causes my problem. right now if i held my throttle half way it will have some boost, but as soon as it goes over .5 boost on the dash or if i floor it. the car just studders and doesn't want to go.

also when i start my car the headlights are on, is that the way it is supposed to be? when i twist the headlight switch from closed to on then high the headlight stays the same, i don't think that's normal right? if i pull the lever for high beam that works but if i just twist it all 3 settings are the same as my normal driving light.

The spark plug cable resistance in the Chiltons cylinders 1-4 are as follows. If one is bad replace them all. You can also check to see if they are bad by misting some water on them and looking for arcs.

1) 5.8 ohms
2) 8.4 ohms
3) 10.6 ohms
4) 9.7 ohms

The firing order is 1-3-4-2. On both the 1.8 and 2.0 liter motors.

1.8 SOHC 4G67 motors use a distributer and 2.0 DOHC 4G63 motors use a coilpack.

Looking at the motor standing in front of the car the order of cylinders is 4-3-2-1 so you are correct there.

When looking at the coil from the driver's side the wire order is 4-1-2-3 from left to right. The wires are numbered so you know what cylinder they go to.

Are you measuring your boost off of the stock gauge? It has been proven to be very innacurate. It does not measure the actual pressure at all. It "calculates" what the boost/vac should be and gives a number that way. Get an aftermarket boost gauge so you know what your boost/vac really is.

Regarding your headlight question I have heard that canadian model DSMs are equipped with daytime running lights, do a search on it. I have never owned a Canadian model so I don't know for sure.

Each spark plug wire cannot have more than 11k ohms maximum (spec) but the numbers he lists are typical for those cyl wires. Also bend them over the entire length while measuring to make sure there are no breaks and that they are flexable.
The Canadian models do have daytime running lights (and a 90A alternator).
