okey guys i bought my car and it came with a autometer boost gauge and i dont know if its working properly it lights up and everything but when i get on the throttle the little needle moves back and fourth inbetween four and five psi and on the stock boost gauge the little needle is pined on full boost whats the problems any recommendations.

Check the line that goes from the back of the gauge to the engine make sure theres no kinks. Also look to see where its hooked up to in the engine.

Make sure the vacuum hose connected to it is still connected good, doesn't have any cracks or splits in it. See where he T-ed it off to as well. Does it goto 0 when the switch is in the on position(not running) what's it sit on at idle?

Edit: Too slow

If everything seems normal, then do a boost leak test. Also make sure the hose is tapped in the fuel pressure solenoid (FPS).

It should be reading vacuum -- mine reads about -15 at idle and I know I have boost leaks -- so it could possibly go to -17 or so.

okay i checked everything and the connection at the top of the boost gauge was loose so i tightened it up and now i gives an accurate boost reading but when my car is idling the gauge still doesnt read any vacuum the needle is still on one psi does this mean i got some boost leaks somewhere

does your guage show Vacuum? some guages dont show vacuum,. Mabye weve got you looking for someting that isnt there.

what guage is it.

if it reads vacuum, but isnt showing any, take a rubber hose and hook to the guage, (vac line) and suck on it. I can suck around 3-5 or so easy. (no jokes please)

If you still arent seeing anything your guage is broke.
if you are seeing some vacuum now, replace the vacuum line and verify the source is in the appropriate spot, usually T'd off the FPR

Ideal vacuum is 18 inhg my car is around 15, or 10, or 20, or 5, depending on its mood.

the gauge is an autometer that shows vacuum and i will try to do the sucking thing tomorrow thx for the help guys
