Ok, I have a 91 TSI AWD. It has a swapped 6 bolt cyclone motor and tranny. I put in a sbr 3500 clutch and act 12lb flywheel. It's bone stock besides that. I was driving down the expressway last night doing around 70 mph, then all of a sudden I felt something lock up and starting making a clinking noise. I went from 70 to 0 in like 4 seconds. After it came to a hault, I shut it off and let it sit for like 20 mins and then started it back up to see if it'll move. It goes in gear but will not move at all, even if it's in neutral and I try to push it. After about 20 mins I go underneath the car and look. There was a puddle of fluid underneath the rear diff.
So today, I call AAA and have them send a flatbed. He had to drag the damn thing up the flatbed. As we arrived at my house with the car he told me to sit in the car as we took it off the flatbed. He sprayed some wd40 by the axle's I guess (didn't see where he was spraying it). But anyway as we were letting it down off of the bed, he said the the rear wheels were moving fine but the front ones were locked up. He said that it looks like my tranny is shot.
It don't sound like the tranny though, since I can put it into gear and there was a puddle underneath the rear diff. I have to look at it tomorrow when it's not raining. But in the mean time, what does it sound like to you guys?
Oh yeah, by the way, this was the first time I've driven the car since the clutch and flywheel install and it made a whining noise when in gear. I heard that the sbr clutches make that noise. Is that true?
