Hey guys i'm pretty sure this is a tuning issue from what i've read and searched around for but i'll explain my issue before i ask my actual question. usually this happens in 3rd-5th the most. if i'm driving down the road say i'm going 50mph in 5th gear or so and i downshift to 4th so i can start to take off the car will start bucking once it hits 15psi or so or around 4,000rpm it wont really do it if i'm at a stop and just take off and start racing or something. Also it does it in them three gears if i'm on the gas but not floored. So here are my mods:

Greddy 24R FMIC
Evo III Big 16G Turbo
650FIC Injectors
255 Fuel Pump
DNP Manifold
MachV SS O2 Housing
Apexi 3" SS Downpipe
Apexi 3" World Sport II
Apexi Twin Camber BOV
Apexi Turbo Timer
Apexi SAFC II
B&M Short Shifter
ACT 2600 Clutch
ACT Flywheel
Injen Intake
Stillen Upper Hard Pipe
Coil On Plug

Now is my problem in the safc/ tuning problem? Is there a way i can get a closer tune with the safc so that it won't do that anymore? Does anyone out there have about the same mods as me? If so would you shard your settings with me? I can tell you guys what mine is maybe that will help figure out something too. here are my settings.

Low (All negative)
1= -2
2= -4
3= -6
4= -10
5= -10
5.5= -10
6= -10
7= -10

High (All negative as well)
1= -21
2= -23
3= -24
4= -23
5= -22
5.5= -22
6= -21
7= -18

Thanks guys hope you can help me out.

Oh i'm sorry i didn't know if i was able to post there yet. i did a boost leak test and all is good.. I think it actually is rich because of the fact when it starts bucking it puffs out black smoke. i'll go check my 02 voltage now and get back to you guys with that in a bit. thanks for the help so far..Edit also i do have an AFPR

I have a couple questions that come to mind after reviewing your symptoms and your mod list:

1. Do you have your BOV vented or recirculated?

2. To reiterate Zack's question, do you have an AFPR? You will need one to go with your larger fuel pump.

3. Could you please update your profile so that we are better equipped to help you?

EDIT: Just saw your answer that you have an AFPR-- sorry. What is your base fuel pressure set to?

My fuel pressure is set to 40. i really can't answer the bov question i have no clue. How could i find out other then asking the kid i bought it from? I know it's an apexi twin chamber bov but thats all i know. i'll go update my profile right now. thanks for the help. also

chanley talon I believe you should pull your high throtlle lower from 3000 to 6000 and see if this corrects your problem. Do you happen to have a logger ?

could you give me an example of what you mean by this? not really sure on what you mean by high throttle lower from 3000 to 6000.

I don't have a logger but my guess is i should get one.. what is a good one to use thats easy?

If there was a place around here that did tuning i would just bring it there and pay them to do it but nobody does it around here so i'm kind of stuck. thanks

Your fuel pressure should be set to 43 psi with the vacuum line to the regulator disconnected at idle. When you reconnect the line, it should drop to 36-38 psi.

If you look at the BOV, you will be able to tell if it is vented or recirculated. A recirculated valve has a return pipe that connects the outlet of the BOV to the intake pipe, while a vented valve has no return pipe-- the outlet just vents to atmosphere.

I'd also like to know where the source for your boost controller is tapped if you could possibly find out.

A logger is an excellent tool to assist you with tuning your car. Anyone seriously considering making more power over stock should invest in one. You can shop around some of the vendor sites to find something that you can afford, but most of them aren't very expensive.

Okie dokie, i'll have to check the fuel pressure tomorrow cause i don't have my car where i am plus it's dark anywho. but anyways i think it's actually just above 40 with it all connected.. Here is a link to my exact bov http://test.dsmtuners.com/parts/product_info.php?cPath=3_146_64&products_id=451

edit: forgot to mention that the boost controller vacume line goes into a T that goes to the intake and then i didn't check where the other line goes to but i'll find out where it goes for sure tomrorow

With your AFC settings only in the low minus twenties (WOT), you probably aren't subtracting enough fuel to compensate for the 650cc injectors. Ideal settings for those injectors would probably be at least in the
-30s, probably around -40% to get closer to a target AFR of 11:1. Combine that with higher than stock fuel pressures (which your ECU doesn't know about) and you're likely drowning the engine in fuel. The sputtering you're experiencing is probably a result of that.

I would seriously recommend properly setting your fuel pressure and leaning out the mixture a bit to see if that fixes your problem. When tuning for larger injectors, it's really in your best interest to have a logger to confirm the absence of knock. In the meantime, try leaning the mixture around the trouble spots in small increments until the symptoms go away, and let us know if you run into anymore problems.

Alright man thanks alot i'll get ahold of some tools tomorrow and try leaning out the fuel. I always smell gas inside the car and there aren't any leaks, and when the car starts to break up it puffs out blackk smoke. I'll let you know tomorrow how it goes.

It sounds like he is tapping the boost controller off the BOV line.

(injection) It may be in your interest to move the pressure source of your boost controller to the turbo outlet elbow (aka) j-pipe. Having the boost controller tapped on the BOV line hinders the function of the BOV.

It appears your BOV can only be vented, otherwise I would have suggested recirculating like Don had mentioned. You are venting metered air into the atmosphere having this style BOV installed on a stock mas. If it were my car I would purchase a new BOV to recirculate back into the intake tube.

and get that logger asap. :thumb:

Alright i still haven't gotten a chance to adjust my fuel pressure cause I don't have tools at my house they are at work. What bov would you suggest?

Any one of these BOVs that have a place to put a recirculation tube on returning the air to the intake tube. Many have good success with the Greddy Type S. I run the HKS SSQ personally. Depending on how much boost you plan on running you could use a crushed 1G BOV even. The choice is up to you.

well thanks for the help guys i blew my motor tonight. I just put a new tranny in my car about 2 weeks ago because it blew and now the motor. If i decide to fix it i'm going to sell it when i put the motor in it and if I don't fix it hopfully i'll get some money back for it. I paid 10,000 for the car 3 months ago and had nothing but problems. I suggest to everyone that has an eclipse if it's running sell it!!!! thanks for the help guys

not yet i haven't looked into it cause it happened later at night but i think a rod let lose and went through the block or the pan because there is an oil trail when it happened. i heard alot of noise and smoke came inside and there was a trail of oil and it's coming from the back side of the block i'm not really sure what happened yet. i noticed the oil pressure was kind of low but it would go up and down so i just figured it was the guage. If i decide to even look into what exaclty happened i'll let you guys know for sure. it didn't sound pretty though.
