Im just wandering how accurate the stock boost gauge is because im running an open downpipe and have only heard my waste gate open once also I took the restrictor out of the BCS and didnt see any difference on the gauge from with the restrictor in it.

Its bout as accurate as a blind man driving... more realisticly its within a few psi, I would say 3psi give or take, you should be hearing that thing dumping.

Dustin

Thanks like I said I have only heard it dump once and its a pretty distinct sound so I would know when it does I hear it when I was going up a mountain. So if im not hearing it dump it probably means im not reaching full boost?

The boost gauge is not any where close to being accurate. When my buddy bought his 1g talon it said it was boosting at 10 psi. We went out and got a aftermarket boost gauge and it said that he was only pushing 7 psi. So don't trust that stupid gauge. Go get a aftermarket one. It will be for your own good.

As Defiant would say... "it doesn't measure, it interpolates..."

The stock boost "gauge" is basically an estimation of what the ECU thinks the boost is at, based on several input parameters (RPM, load, etc.). Once you start modifying your engine/turbosystem, I can't imagine that that gauge would be anywhere near accurate at all.

Thats what I thought because there was no change after I did the BCS mod so im thinking I could have some boost leaks because I never hear the waste gate dosent open.

Yes stay away from eBAY cheap stuff, I would personally go with Autometer, but thats just my personal preference. Nicely stated Paul.

Dustin

I agree with the other on the ebay cheap stuff because now adays they're not worth crap
I got mine of ebay I admit but it was years ago before it was the cheap crap

Ebay Bashers!!
You should research how many people give autometer crap.
Or the threads on people using Ebay gauges.. Myself included. Although I'm not using the ractive, I got mine from glow shift gauges for 25 dollars, and I imagine it's pretty accurate(pleanty of people have put this gauge up against autometer or similar name brands w/ the same readings). It's calibrated on 0 with the ignition switch..
I think most people forget how simple of a device a boost gauge really is.. and unless your doing some serious racing, and need fraction of psi accuracy, I can't imagine why that one wouldn't work.
The only pressure gauge I've seen fail, are one of those digital tire pressure gauges, it was off 1.5psi to two of my mechanical tire pressure gauges.

I personally have autometer, but there is one gsx in our group that is running a ebay one and his is just as accurate as mine. We hooked them both up to the same car just to see. I was impressed.

I honestly don't think I've ever looked at it while driving. Actually I don't think I've ever looked at it. Doesn't the 2g one just have +, - ?

Yeah, some things on Ebay are just as good or better, if they are a reputable company... not like ssautochrome or something, but there are good ones out there.... The stock boost gauge is more like a boost guide, even with the stock turbo. The 1st gens had at least the numbers of how many ft/lbs of boost it had, even the 3000kgt's/stealth's had it written on there too... Upgrade, its the best thing you can do once you go past stock.... especially that t-25....
