I got a 92 tsi awd with some basic stuff done to her (fuel pump, IC pipes(upper and Lower), bov, spec stage 2 clutch, stock ic:notgood: , manual boost controller, shiny breaksOMG , FCD). It has about 100,000 miles on the turbo and the IC. WHAT WOULD MAKE MORE POWER FOR ME A

FMIC
or
Big 16G TURBO

thanks

Im no expert but before i put on the Big 16 i got a FMIC because you would totally heat soak that little smic. Then i would upgrade the turbo fuel inj. and get a tuning system.

Its not what would make u more power at this point, Its what will work better with the setup u have so far.

Neither will make more power without proper fuel control. In order to turn up the boost safely, you'll need larger injectors and the means to control them. Once that's in place, you can add the larger turbo and turn on the boost. How much you'll be able to run is dependant on your ability to cool the intake charge temps in order to ward off knock and the fuel you'll use (higher octane acts as a knock suppressant)

I would get the turbo first and then upgrade the intercooler. I successfully ran well into the 12's on a stock sidemount with a Big 16G at 24 psi on a stock 2.0 with stock cams. As a matter of fact, I still don't run an FMIC on my setup and have no plans to for quite a while.

Hope that helps,

Andy

Fmic's don't make power so the answer is obviously the turbo. Like the wiseman said with a tuning device you can get your car moving then you can use them shiny brakes to stop ROFL

My only advice watch stock 450's + 16g + to much boost = :beatentodeath: <==your engine

Smarter to do supporting stuff first. Fuel, tuning, fmic, then a bigger turbo.

In a perfect world yes but everyone knows that dsm owners aren't always finacial able to get everything and everyone wants to go fast now. That's why you see guys pushing the envelope on stock parts so often like any runing 12.0 on stock smic you think he would have done that if he had the money for a top of the line fmic?

LOL True that!

I've used all my financial aid money and I still don't have my shep tranny and aem ems!!!

But yeah without some injectors (at least 550s for the 16g and an afc) you are not going to make any power.
