I was just wondering what all is involved w/ the install of a GReddy Turbo Trimer w/ the eclipse wireing harness. I just ordered it the other day off the internet so it hasn't come in yet, so I was wondering is it a simple plug-n-play or is there some wiring to be done also.

Of course you have to run a ground and a wire to your e-brake so thecar shuts off then it goes down. I just bought one and it wass explained by the guy i bought it off of.

yeah its a plu n play...just unplug the harness under your steering wheel, plug the TT harness to the harness under the steering wheel and then to the TT....mount the TT somewhere and you are done

Ok I did a search and I just bought a greddy turbo timer. Everyone says that it doesnt come with the harness but mine came with one unless this one is not the right one. Could someone let me know please... Thanks

Here are some pics to help you out.

I just got my Apexi TT and GReddy harness from Road/Race last week. From what I can see, you do not have the plug & play harness.

Anyways, here are some pics I snapped of my GReddy harness. Hope this helps...

My Greddy is the same as yours. Just unplug the connector at the switch, plug the harness between. Then plug the timer in to the other connector on the harness, ground out and its ready to use.

If you have the "plug and play" harness you shoudn't have to splice into any of the wires in the ignition location.

dj_5, does that other harness just have wires at the end? If so that is included for hardwire installs. If greddy just made it straight wires from the turbo timer, their "plug and play" harness wont' be worth it becaues either way you will be stripping and connecting wires.

After having done many turbo timer installs now, hardwiring is so easy I personally wouldn't pay for that plug and play harness unless it was <$5. Hell you don't even have to hook up the blue ign wire for the turbo timer to work.

Just 12v power, ground, and the green ign wire. It will work no problem. No need to hook up the blue one, this goes for the original old Greddy TT, and the newer Greddy Full Auto Timer.

Just follow the instructions included, or the tutorials in the tech section, after your done you will see how easy it was. Good luck!

Was this comment meant for me? I already know how to install the TT. Thanks anyways though. ;)

Well it had plugs on both ends but it wasnt the right ones so I just cut it and hardwired it. The tech section had the hardwire instructions that were done up perfect Thanks!!! Was atcually really easy to hardwire just three wires. The only hard part was laying under the dash to do it all! But thanks a lot for all the help! I appreitiate it!

any idea if any wires need to be spliced if u have aftermarket alarm. I hooked mine up (greedy full auto timer ) code alarm alarm system and my unit does not count down when removing key i sent unit back to have it checked and they said all is ok even removed plug to remove connections for brake and ecu taps to rule out please help

That is a different situation, usually people complain about their factory or aftermarket alarm not working with the turbo timer, in which case I just followed this from awd92gsx:

honestly, if a shop has to setup a turbo timer and alarm system using external relays, they don't fully understand how all of the different systems work.

The solution to using a turbo timer with an aftermarket alarm is very simple, especially DEI alarms (Viper, Python, Hornet, etc...)

Install the turbo timer as normal to IGN 1 and IGN 2

Remove the IGN wire from the alarm, and switch it over to ACC and you will be able to arm the alarm and run the turbo timer at the same time. Unless your alarm is overly sensitive, it shouldn't go off with the engine running.

Why does this work? The alarm monitors your IGN wire for voltage drop. As soon as it drops voltage then the alarm goes into standby and either waits for you to arm, or starts a countdown timer to arm itself AFTER the door has been opened and then closed.

But now the turbo timer supplies voltage to the IGN circuit(s) so the alarm waits to monitor the dome light circuit (door ajar circuit) until after the timer shuts down. So, by monitoring the ACC circuit instead there is no conflicts between the timer (on IGN circuit) and the alarm (on ACC circuit)

So, instead of wiring in relays, diodes, and the such, just swap your alarm's IGN sensing wire to the ACC wire and you'll be good to go.

I would double check your turbo timer wiring, it should still count down, make sure you followed the 1g wiring colors and not the 2g wiring colors.

Also check the turbo timer settings, there is a setting depending if its hooked on ACC or IGN. And theres a small switch on the back of the unit that must match the software setting. This only applies to the newer Greddy TTs, assuming the one you have, which are the ones pictured in this thread.

So take the ign wire coming from the brain of the alarm and remove it from the tap on the ignition harness and re tap it to the acc
