I don't know where I should post this but hope this is a good place.

I am trying to figure out what lower radiator hose to use when doing the 6-bolt to 7-bolt swap. I have read to use the 1st gen hose but it seems to be in the way of the shifter linkage.

I tried a longer universal hose but it to is in the way of the shiftert linkage, making it very hard to shift into 5th gear.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Garrett.

We had to do a really interesting ghetto-rigging on mine. It actually doesn't look too bad, but it is long. We basically cobbled the 1G and 2G hoses together with a piece of old water pipe and some clamps. If I get a chance later, I'll take some pics.

going froma 1997 eclipse gst 2nd gen motor to a cyclone motor

My question is, anyone who has ever done one of these did you have a problem with the starter not making contact with the flywheel?

the engine i got was supposed to of came out of a galant vr4 which is a awd vehicle, im wondering if maybe thats why my starter is making a clacking noise and is not fully engaging the flywheel, does anyone if this is so? can i just go to a local auto parts store and grab a starter for a vr4? will that work?

Thanks
Brian

What do you mean shim the starter? you know when you engage the starter the starter flicks out and spins? well its almost like the 2g start is just a bit too short its not making con tact.

You need to cut the weight off the 2g shifter to make clearance for the 1g lower radiator hose.

hello,

i have a gst fwd, what i was asking is are the awd and fwd flywheels diffrent? thats the only thing i can think of why it would reach the flywheel.

If you used the awd flywheel in your fwd tranny the starter will not engage because the awd flywheel is smaller. You need to make sure you are using your fwd flywheel.
