How hard is it to install this in a 2g? My friend said its kinda hard because you gotta cut the intake off a lil and rewire some stuff. I thought it was just plug and play. I have ECU+ and DejonTool intake pipe (along with other stuff listed in my profile) Im running the ECU+ as a MAFT with the GM MAF. But before doing all the work, is it worth it to install in the GM MAF if i just wanna run a 380-400awhp car? and how hard is it to install? I've looked and searched but no answer to this particular problem?

The wiring part of the maft is plug and play, unless you extend the wires to the cockpit.

The installation of the GM maf sensor requires you to cut out a section of your uicp and use couplers to install it. This is the "blow through" set up

If you run "draw through" you just need to have a pipe coming off the turbo with a coupler that fits the maf sensor with a filter on the other side.

According to my link you should be ok with the 2g maf however.

Here is some tuning info also.

I have the gm maf and i just recently switched back to the 2g mas. The car is much easier to tune with the stock mas! But if you do decide to install the gm maf, it is plug and play except for 1 wire that you hook up if you want to tune with the translator by rpm point. I never used that wire as i had an afc to tune with.

Here's how mine is in the upper intercooler pipe: http://members.aol.com/olmytdadon/after.jpeg

This post and your profile state that you are already using the GM MAF and MAFT. Now you are asking how to install it?

Just to avoid anymore confused responses, he's going to be wiring the GM MAF to the ECU+, so he doesn't have a MAF-T. Sadly, this is far from a "plug-and-play" installation. If you follow the instructions in the ECU+ manual, it's pretty straightforward.

If you install it in a blow-through configuration, you will need to cut out a section of your IC piping for it to fit. Other than that, the installation of the MAF itself is pretty simple.

The rest involves routing the wiring. Plan on spending some time under the dash with a soldering iron, and be ready to invent new profanities. This part took me the longest.

The worst part is even after you're all finished, it still might not work. You'll notice I started a thread recently describing the problem I'm having with mine. I'm still waiting to hear back from the ECU+ guy.

The bottom line is your stock MAS will be fine for your horsepower goals. The only real advantage of running the GM MAF for you is to permit venting your BOV. I opted for this because my IC piping makes it impossible to recirc my BOV without surging the compressor. Whatever you decide, good luck and let me know how it goes.
