This is a newbie question but i'm getting fuel cut at 18 psi. If i buy a super afc 2 will this give me the ability to bypass the fuel cut.

I mean hide the boost from the ecu! I dont have a boost leak And ive got a new 255 pump and injectors going in before the safcII. I understand why I get it Im just trying to run 30 psi. Im in the middle of a re-build and im learning as I go. I am building the internals to hold 30+ psi. Money I have-experiance I dont. please advise.

Thank you for the link it answered my question. And i would never lean my car out to an unsafe AFR. Im buying an afcII to reduce the air count going past my GM MAF? correct?

Before getting an AFC or larger fuel pump (and the requisite AFPR that you'll need with a 255), I would advise that you get a logger or engine management system to see what is going on with your car. I would recommend DSMLink, as I'm sure over 90% of the site will also. It does no good to throw parts at a car when you can't monitor what's going on with it.

I have to ask, and please don't take this insultingly: Did you do an actual boost leak test, or do you just think you don't have any leaks? It's not that I'm automatically doubting you; it's just that there have been a million "I don't have any leaks" people who later do a proper boost leak test and are quite surprised by the results.

I went as far as taking off my fmic and putting in the bath tud while under 15 psi. My friend is a plumer and me made a cool tester for fmic and to fit my turbo for the first test. we were very careful. And I respect everyone on here for taking to time to answer questions from newbies like me I know it has to get old for you guys. Im very thankful. Im looking for a logger now, so any help on a user freindly one? Remember im from Alabama.

Uh....the ecu does not see boost once you install a boost controller because you don't use the boost seloniod anyway. Secondly what does boost have to do with you hitting fuel cut, fuel cut does not happen when you hit some magical number the ecu sees as too much, these are dsms not srt-4s with some retarded "stage" upgrade. I can garuntee you have a boost leak, as a matter of fact I am 110% sure you have a boost leak.

Secondly install an AFPR before you put the 255 in. It will overrun your stock fpr and cause tunnign nightmares, bad gas milleage, and will kill o2 sensors by you running obnoxisouly rich all the time. Then after putting int he above mentioned afpr put the safc in before the pump and injectros as well so you have a way of tunning out all the extra fuel that is trying to be forced into your engine now.

Why are you trying to run 30psi ont he stock turbo, not only will the turbo not make the much boost(you may spike to 30 but your not going to hold it) but it will be inneficient as all hell at those boost levels. You will do more harm by having a super high intake air temp than good by runnign that high of boost.

Just trying to save you some money here by why are you buying an afc if you already have a tunnign tool at your disposal? You can tune just fine with the gm maf/maf-t. Use the money you would spend on the afc and buy yourslef a wideband o2 gauge so you know what's going on with yoru engine.

Slow down a little bit do alot more research and pick a route you want to go before just throwign a heap pile of parts at your car hoping it makes more power.

You are right! Thank you for answering that. I did have a leak on my intake. I just get in a hurry sometimes. I am getting a 57trim turbo by the way. What kind of datta logger would you recommend? And i will do a complete fuel upgrade. The block is at PSI getting o-ringed and 20-over for the rebuild. Im going all forged with a steel crank.

DSMLink. It's a logger, tuner, and diagnostic tool all in one. The product support is fantastic and the knowledge you gain from using it will be invaluable to you the more your car evolves.

Sorry if I misunderstand, but what I have just read has lead me to believe that you pressure tested the IC, but not your entire intake system. I just wanted to clarify that you know that a boost leak test involves pressurizing from the turbo all the way to the engine with all intake components assembled, the most important aspects being your couplers and your seals. A leak on your intake pipe won't affect your turbo spool, just your tune.

If you do DSMlink you will also need to get an eprom ecu.

 Yes. For future reference, just because a thread is already up discussing a certain topic does not exempt you from using the search button.

Another feature of DSMLink is that it eliminates fuel-cut altogether. This is beneficial to users of DSMLink as long as they ensure that their car is tuned such that it is never allowed to run too lean.
