Does anyone know how to fix the black trim around the top of my front windows that is peeling and the rubber trim around the rear quarter glass that looks like it has mold spotting on it? Will post pics when I get a few minutes free.

Haha I had the same problem with my last DSM, and it was basically just showing metal. I ended up just selling it and getting a new one without that problem :thumb: , but i did look in to it and it can be pretty expensive to replace those. I was told around $100 per trim peice, but if you wanna be cheap, you could paint over the trim with black paint or even use electrical tape if it bothers you that much.

I've had the same problem on my last two TSi's.
Where the black rubber on top of the door by the window is dry rotting and pealing off...

I sanded the smooth metal that was showing. Then I took some flat black touch-up paint that comes in a little bottle with a brush.... and painted over the metal. The flat black blended in real well with the old black rubber haha ...its actually doesn't look half bad. And it looks waaay better than it did with shiny metal showing through.

On the 2G, the rubber part, try Mother's Back to Black. It didn't work on mine cause mine are really bad. Painting it might help, for a few months, but eventually the paint will come off. The paint shop that I went to even said that they would not gurantee their work on the trims. The best thing to do is to replace it. Try your local dealer for a price quote.

If your trim isn't too bad, I recomend Black Chrome. This will clean the surface and seal it, making the apearance darker. It worked great for mine and has held up well over the past eight or so months, I'm probably due to do it again soon. The process seems neverending, but well worth it.

I have always painted and cleared them when I paint the car. I paint almost everyone i get so this method is a little easier for myself.
