Hey everyone. I blew my 2g engine up about 2months ago or so , i have posted a thread about it, but thats history. Now im all fresh and ready to go buy a new(rebuilt) engine. i have changed all parts that are possible in the car(well we own DSM's you know) thats our job . I have rebiult my 5spd manual tranny new Act2600 clutch , flywhell , the turbo is big16g brand new drove about 20miles before blowing up my engine(hole in my block)
Ok the deal is that i put all my money into my baby and i have most of the parts new and i dont want to drop in a used engine ... just doesnot feel right, i worked all summer saved some cash and now i need YOU guys to help ME to chose where to buy and engine from.
PLEASE dont talk about 6bolt swap . What do you guys think about karking rebiult 4g63t. PLEASE HELP CHOOSE AN ENGINE

There are some pic's when i took the head off. Piston was on 45degree angle i moved it a little so you could see the hole better, and then my block kas a 2inch long hole, and my connecting rod is laying down in my oil pan sorry im a bad DSM'er

Depends on how much you have. Ebay has some motors just got to know what to look for. Classifieds are filled with motors. Good luck

karking has a rebuilt 7bolt motor for 2000 ... i have money but i dont want to spend it all i worked hard for it, i just want my motor hold the big16g , planing to push 250-300 horses.... i can spend 2000-3000-4000 bucks on the motor . i need a motor thats reliable i dont want to be afraid step on a gas pedal thinking something gonna blow up again (hopefully not the block) :(

If you truly have up to $4k to spend, look into Buschur Racing or FFWD for a motor. You should be able to get a decently built motor for that much that can hold up to quite a bit more power.

go to a junkyard and get a 2.4 block, rebuild it, and put your head on it. :thumb:

:sneaky: :dsm:

I'm just curious, but why don't you want to swap a 6 bolt in? It's not as much work as you think it is. Let me give you a price comparison.
Used 6 bolt block - 400 (pistons, rods, and crank should come with this along with matching mains and rod caps. Try and get the oil filter housing with this)
Wiseco Pistons - 500 (Use the 6 bolt rods)
ACL bearings - 130
Front case - 190
Waterpump - 90
Engine gasket kit - 140
This equals around 1450
You can reuse your 2G cylinder head.

6 bolt requires rewiring and computers and too much stuff, my car has been sitting in the garage for 2 months ALL SUMMER , so i want to get it outta there ASAP . I dont want a 6bolt 2much work , btw installation is expensive too. i dont have much time myself.
I need a 7 bolt cause i bought a fidanza 8lbs flywheel and i have a act2600 with very little miles on it , i dont wanna throw it out or sell it. What do you guys think about KArking 7bolt rebuild? Should i go for it , its my best option for now.... and my head is crap , piston hit the valve and bent it...

$3k for a rebuilt engine...you can do much better than that. Hell, you could buy a bare block and get good internals and assembled for almost that much.

This may sound like a crazy idea, just get an evo engine 7 bolt. You should be able to find one at an import yard. They don't have the crank walk problem that most US 7 bolts see. If you do go with an evo 1 or 2 because they will have the 8:5 compression the evo 3 had 9:0 which is a little high. They will have the bigger ports then the 2G heads as well. You should be able to find one for 2000 and they will have less then 50,000 due to the junk yard laws in japan. It will match up beautifly with the Evo 3 turbo plus you will have enough money for an evo 3 exaust manifold :sneaky:

Call me crazy but just throwing it out there.
