I have a 91' Plymouth Laser with auto trans , about 6 months ago my Laser all of the sudden had only reverse and 3rd .. Well I take it to a friends mechanic and he replaced the Transmission Control Module , which fixed the problem temporarily (he did not know of the fail safe either I suppose).... So now I am back to 3rd and reverse again and just now researched it out to find out the tcm is in fail safe mode.. My question is this , is there a way to reset the tcm? I have disconnected the neg for about 30 min and the tcm did not reset... I plan on getting the code read for my trans problem but for the time being I just want to reset the tcm, any help would be appreciated!

Disconnecting the battery for 30 min will reset the TCM. You probally have a problem with your solenoids in the tranny.

Yea from what I have read I feared it was a prob with the solenoids in the trans, the price I got for replacing them is 560$??? Does that sound right?
