Had a thread going with a bad thread title so I hope this threade title is a little more clear

Basically getting a parts list scetched up for 2g build based on information I have been receiving and looking through. Going with a 6 bolt block and an evo head other then that im not sure on my next move. I also ran into hk 272 cams for a great price that I got redone. My overall goal is 400whp well not pushing what I have to the limit. Just looking for good build on the rest of parts I need the more imput and information I can get the better. Another thing that was mentioned was getting the blocked sleeved is this necessary or is a really good cleaning just as good.

As many say go with the kelford 280's and do you plan on doing a forged build? I have a similar project and i have made sure all the fuel parts were taken care of before hand.

But what other parts do you have or plan on getting? 400 isn't too hard to reach

Nothing yet I have about 16k to play with im not bound to the hks. As far as supporting mods I will get them I have nothing right now plan is to getting a list of what I need get a price idea make sure I like what I see and then start buying. Felt engine build is where I wanted to start as it is very important to me to take the time and gain more knowledge before moving to the rest.

Yeah forged internals.

here is a good place to start. read these links and it will give you a better idea of what to do.

Tech Guide - DSMtuners read the 2g basic horse power upgrade.

DSM Turbo 2G Parts - DSMtuners.com this link shows all the parts offered from vendors on this site which is everything you want. there is even vendors that build whole motors.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/fre...uestions/55410-top-10-most-popular-dsm-q.html probably any other question you have will be in here. feel free to message vendors or other people to help you get your goal moving forward.

Thanks for links ill check it and post my ideas for feedback

From what im seeing its cheaper to buy an already put together motor is that the smarter route to go... some even have options where you can build your own anyone have any experience with this let me know how the experience / product was / is

Any ideas or help on the last few items would be great/ any thoughts

Yeah gridle at 120 was like meh why not nows the time to do it

is extreme pretty good about mixing and matching or do they have some pretty nice pre matched sets.

Just want to have a clear list of parts when it comes buying time so I dont have to order crap 5 different times

Can you please explain to me why the OP needs kelford 280's to make 400 whp? Kelford cams run big anyways. In most cases the 272's (actually they are more like 274s) share similiar grinds to that of competitors 280's. Hell even 264's would be fine for 400 whp...

To the OP:
An evo head will not work for any dsm block. Everything is backwards compared to the dsm head. I believe that the 420a guys can use the evo head. Not sure though. For an example the evo cam gears face the passenger side on the evo and the dsm cam gears face the drivers side

Most advertised 272s have an 0.050" lift duration of about 212 degrees. Kelford measures their advertised durations at 0.1mm. They also spec them at 1mm of lift, which is just under 0.040". Their 272 cams have 226 degrees of duration at 0.040", so I'd expect a good amount more than 212 at only 0.01" more valve lift.

If you don't plan to exceed 8500 rpm I'd stick with something right around a 272 or less.

It can be done on a DSM 4g63 block, but isn't really worth the hassle unless you're going MIVEC.
It won't work on a 420a block.
How'd you get that backwards?

You can swap a evo head to a 420 with some work. The 3g eclipse can use almost all evo parts. Now putting a evo head on a 4g63 would be super hard if even possible, intake valves would be on exhaust side and vise verse.

As for cams I have been running web 272 on a stock 6bolt with 2g head and I really like the combo. The smaller intake ports help on the low end and the 272 really likes the upper rpms.

Don't forget you will have to have everything checked for clearance and machine the block for proper clearance. I would not order any pistons until you have the Bores checked out. you will also have to have the mains in the blocked Line honed when installing Arp fasteners.

If you have the cash I would get in touch with force engineering they build some nasty motors, and they are a supporting vendor here.

i know i would find a better company to sell you parts if those prices on your list are correct. almost $900 for pistons and rods? seems pricey to me, i got eagle rods and je pistions for $700 and that was back in 2010. seems like your on the right track tho the most important thing is finding a GOOD machine shop that has some knowlege about smaller turbo engines.

Jayson, $900 is about right for a decent set of rods and pistons, depending on brand.

I see missing from the list,
Valve spring kit to match the K280 cams
other valve train parts, valves and bronze guides.

Also you need a tune solution, injectors, turbo, mani-INT and EXH to work with the cams.
H-Balancer
Clutch kit w/flywheel
Engine/trans mounts (Maybe a reman trans)

For machine work, with the parts on your list

Block, bored/honed w/torque plate
Block decked (So a MLS HG will seal)
Rotating assembly balanced
With the girdle and ARP being used, the main bores need checked, and align honed as needed.
BSE done
Block oil mod done
PTW measured and set
Ring gaps set
Oil squirter banjo bolts checked/replaced if the block is equipped.

Head will need
Valve job,
surfaced
Guides installed
Maybe some port work
Valve tip heights checked
Spring installed heights measured, spring pressure set
HLA bleed/replaced

You can swap a evo head to a 420 with some work.
Can you provide any proof of this before I award you with more negative rep?

The 3g eclipse can use almost all evo parts.
The 3G eclipse also came equipped with a 4G64.

Now putting a evo head on a 4g63 would be super hard if even possible, intake valves would be on exhaust side and vise verse.
Rhetorical question, what engine block would you find in every Evo up until the Evo X?

What makes it hard is making the exhaust and turbocharger fit on the firewall side and the intake fit on the radiator side.

Yeah list pretty much the blocki have updated list ill post

Also my plan was to get pistons rod and crank then bring it all to the dude at once

Yeah as of now I have the 272 hks in build

And yeah im getting alc

And from what im reading stock head bored out is way to go

And as far as money goes im already pouring a good amount in no piont in scimping on things

And I dont mind having the entire block built buy a single person just as long as I know whats being used

Alright here is update block and tranny are complete now I need to get the rest this is what I have jus need a little help

Metal head gasket greddy 200, exhaust manifold gasket 50, arp head studs, full gasket set oem 150, front cover set 300, water pump 100, blow off valve hk 300, cams and gears hk 500, springs hk 200, valves hk ?, lifters hk ?, fuel rail aem 150, injectors rc 300, intake manifold venom 500, fuel pump venom 200, radiator koyo 300, inter cooler and piping greddy 1000, fans ? 150, turbo 5969e 650, air intake k and n 150, dsm link 550, widrband aem 200, c.o.p. 300, gauges oil pressure, coolant temp, boost, rpm
