Ok heres the problem: First off I changed the spark plugs, wires, and the ignition coil pack last month. My check engine light is on and it reads Cylinder misfire in cylinder 1 and 3. It also has a low catalyst efficency bank one. I want to figure out the misfire situation first if anyone on here can help. I have also already searched on here and couldn't find anyone with the same problem.

So, I know how it feels when a spark plug is fouled out and the engine shakes but during idle it shakes but NOT as bad as if a spark plug is bad...then when I accelerate it's smooth and no bucking or missing or anything ....it feels normal.

Ok, now when i go to fill my gas tank up from any level (ive tried from many levels),right after I fill up and start the car it shakes really bad...like a spark plug is fouled and sometimes the check engine light flashes but if i accelerate its smooth again and after about 3 run cylces after a fill up it does the minor shaking at idle but fine during acceleration.....I'm thinking its bad injectors...but im not as knowledged in these cars as some people on here so id appreciate any help or ideas someone can offer.

Also, I don't know if this would help, but, I use regular grade SHELL gasoline. I have put a bottle of Chevron with Techron fuel injection cleaner in the tank during my last fill-up,and I also put a new gas cap on the car a few months ago.

1.Make sure that your plugs are gapped correctly. Sometimes you can get lucky and have them happed correctly and sometimes not
2.Check the connection of the wires to the coil AND the plugs. I have had one loose and it would misfire. Tightened the connection up on all the wires to plugs. Fixed my misfire. Wasnt gettin good connection
3.As far as running regular, the diffrence in premium and regular, I don think is enought to make your car do what it is.. But I run nothing but 93 Octane in my GSX because I want nothing but the best performance. Also in my old 420a talon i ran nothing but 91 for the same reason.
4. If you think that it may be an injector, you can pull your fuel rail and look down inside of it to see if its nasty in there, though the injector cleaner should do something for it.

Ok, first off I love your car ! LOL I'm actually trying to get this one running right so I can sell it and get me a GSX but anyway...back on subject... I forsure gapped the plugs right when I put them in...I just checked the wires and they all have a good connection...they're all snapped down onto the plugs and the coil....and about the gas...my car has been running fine for the last 2 years and ive always put regular grade in my car...

I literally just went outside and checked LOL I unplugged them all and Re-plugged them back up and made sure they snapped down on everything, then started it ...it's still doing it.

this happened to me too... it wont hurt to check..

Yes indeed. You may think the connection is good but you never know. Squeeze it tighten it up and see what you get
As far as your gas, I wasnt trying to say that that is indeed what the problem is. I was just letting you know how I do things
Thanks for the compliment:thumb:

Also, have you drove your car out of gas lately? If you run it out of gas, there is a chance that you sucked up some nasty stuff and it went through the system and is clogging an injector. Its a long shot, but I thought it happend to my car. So I just swapped fuel rails.
Another things to check, is your car shooting any black smoke? If so your having more of an ignition problem, not buring up all of the fuel (running rich) which would more lead me to bad wire connection.

But if you said you checked then I believe you. Just wanting to make sure we can correctly diagnose.

I would use a multi meter on your ignition coil and make sure the Omhs are up to spec. The resistance should be somewhere between .51-.61 ohms. You never know the case even if you think its good.

Yeah actually I let it run empty one time but I'm almost sure it was doing this before I let the tank go empty...and my car doesn't smoke one bit....and yeah I understand I want to get this figured out and fixed asap ! ....

Thanks I will try this !

Also, if you cant find the results on here since your car is a 420a, you might have more luck on 2gnt.com.
They know more about the 420a's over there.

Ok, now I feel really stupid but I literally held the wires on the coil and the CEL turned off....I think my wires may bee too short. The wires to 2 and 3 are shorter than the ones that were on there before I changed them, but I didn't think it would make a difference when I put them on. I bought them brand new from the twilight zone and that's the wires they handed me and I didn't check before I left the store....but anyway thanks for the help guys ! If I didn't check I'd still be confused about something simple.

Hahaha it's always the simple problems that cause the most trouble.
Glad you figured it out, never good to see a DSM running poorly. :thumb:

They are the same way on my 4g63. 2 wires are shorter and 2 are longer. If ou have the shorter 2 strecthing from plug to coil well then you just may not have the good connection we were talking about ;). Stuff happens. Let us know if this solves all your problems

My father had the same problem in his 2002 Pontiac grand am GT. Check and make sure that your Fuel injectors are clean, and check you fuel lines. Hey, I'm stupid, so I doubt I'm right but yeah, Always start with the basics. Also, have your computer check on your catty. Usually means it clogged, You can have the computer reset, and if the light comes on again, then you catty is clogged.
