Seems like the motor is leaning a touch as you roll into WOT, though if I recall my car does the same thing, hard to tell without a plotted datalog. Very minimal knock retard if any. 02 sensor voltage looks good once you are at WOT in the higher rpm range. Pretty conservative tune. Looks good. 20 psi should be no problem.

So should my next step be just to up to boost to 20psi and do another log and see how things look? Or any changes i should do before hand?

Wanted to mention i havent touched any other settings besides adjusting the global fuel and dead time settings. My ltft low's where a bit low (-14%) but my airflowperrev was also a little low already (22) so i adjusted the deadtime(was going by some others suggestions to start with) instead of messing with airflow and i got the ltft lows to around 1%. Mid is right arond 2%.

I was going to say the same thing. The IDC's look fine and so do the A/F... I kinda don't like the early Timing Adv but owell it should be fine...

Typically, the advanced timing at lower throttle positions is normal. I forgot how bad the stock 2g timing curve is. I typically add 5* extra everywhere, but I tend to run alot of timing.

I see no problem cranking the boost to 20 psi. You have tons of reserve left on the injectors, and the fuel pump is keeping the a/f ratios dead stable.

It's much better to adjust the airflow to get the ltft's right. Otherwise, the ECU isn't seeing the proper amount of air. Anything else is a bandaid fix. I'd also richen up the lower fuel bars.

Thanks for the tip. I guess my only concern was i wasnt sure if my deadtime was right in the first place. Im using siemens deka injectors, and i cant really find an offical deadtime. Jeff some dsmchips said he had some and he ran around ~405us so thats where i started. Also someone else said they ran ~315us. I ended up lowering mine to right around 300us to get the ltft low's in line. Should i put it back to ~405us and then lower the 50hz bar enough to get the ltft low's back in line?

Thanks to everyone else too for the help. I plan on doing some runs at 20psi on sunday.

Post the actual log file (.dat if V2 or .elg if V3). This will allow us to help you a lot more.

You're coolant temps are high. The ECU is pulling 1* of timing because of this.
important2gcoolantpoints [ECMTuning - wiki]

I would first do your fuel trims.
GMAF Calibration for LTFT

From 4500rpm up you can start taking a bit of fuel out. You're close to the goal of 11:1, so I would shoot for that.

And are you planning on upping the boost on Sunday and then tuning? Or do you want to get the car kind of dialed in before then? I would say to just up it and start your fuel trim tuning.

Thanks for the reminder on the coolant temps, i actually noticed the coolant temps earlier and looked up on the tuning guide and saw that it would be pulling timing, also that is the highest ive seen them. I had done a pull not long before that, so i am not sure if that contributed to it or not. I had it idle in the driveway for ~30min earlier and the temps where fine. FMIC may possibily be restircting airflow to the radiator on the highway. Also ill check the coolant system out to see if anythings up.

I think since things look pretty well at 15psi, im going to go ahead and go for 20psi and see how things go. Hopefully things will look ok there and i can then start getting the fuel trims looking good as you said.

I ended up lowering mine to right around 300us to get the ltft low's in line. Should i put it back to ~405us and then lower the 50hz bar enough to get the ltft low's back in line?

Thanks to everyone else too for the help. I plan on doing some runs at 20psi on sunday.
Hmm that is a problem and I assume since Siemens is an OEM supplier, they don't have a customer service number? I would stick it at 315 microseconds and leave it there unless you have a way of finding out the true number. Most injectors have a deadtime around there. Once you've done that, I suggest you do one of the tuning regimens available on the DSMLink wiki:

maftcalibrationbywbo2 [ECMTuning - wiki]
maftcalibrationbyloggedboost [ECMTuning - wiki]

(I know these say for MAFT, but unless I'm mistaken the method works regardless of what air sensor you're using)

These both use the same principles as the GMAF LTFT calibration Snowboarder linked to, but they also show you how to get your tune right. I personally recommend the second method, but it only works if you have a pressure sensor like a GM 3.3 bar. This is a worthwhile investment, because being able to log your true boost, rather than boostest (which can be incredibly inaccurate if your airflow is off) is a real benefit.

I think i do remember the a/f ratio value being off from my wideband readings, but i thought that was just the computer not being accurate or something, but from the link you sent those numbers should be very close to each other. So i guess i need to do some work on that also then?

Your A/F Ratio values (that ECMlink estimates) and your wideband values will be different. kahl was talking about BoostEst and the readings from a MAP sensor.

You can adjust all of your airflow points using a wideband and boost gauge, but it is no where as easy. If you have a MAP sensor, you just get the BoostEst value (ECMlink estimates this) and your logged MAP value, plug them into an equation, and adjust. It's very simple that way.

I think he was refering to the first method, where you compare the estimated A/F ratio to the ratio being given by your wide band.

And yes Cooldude, if your estimated versus true ratios don't come anywhere close to matching, then you've got some work to do. Like Snowboarder said, using a MAP sensor is a lot easier, but whatever method you choose, you need to do the following in this order:

1. Find or settle on a deadtime to use. If searching reveals nothing, go with 315 microseconds.

2. Calibrate you airflow using either of the methods I linked to earlier.

3. Fix your coolant problem (if you in fact do have a problem). Make sure you aren't pushing coolant. If you don't know what that meants, search the DSMLink forums.

4. Redo a run at 15 psi for baseline, then play around with the fuel sliders until you richen up the bottom end, right now it's too lean.

5. Pump it up to 20 psi, tune the thing and drive the snot out of it.

OK, to get the AFRratioest and the ltft lo in line at idle i ended up having to up the deadtime back to around 405us(Which is what jeff told me so it makes sense it matching up) and then pulled out around -13% on the 50hz. I had to pull out around 20% on the 150hz to get the stft in line at 150hz.

I just did some quick pulls and the afratioest is way off from the wideband, im talking 16.2(est) vs 10.7WB, and its pretty much off almost that much throught the entire 3rd gear. So should i be using the global scalar and pulling something like 50% out? Or why are these values so off?

Where do you think i should be adding fuel at? The 2000 to 2500 area? How much as a guess, few %?

I'll look at the logs in a second. However, you've got to slow down here. Either you didn't read or you didn't understand what I said earlier. First of all, you've got to stop using deadtime as a tuning tool. I know some people do that, but it's not what it's designed for. It's designed to tell the ecu one characteristic of the injectors on the car and that's it. You set it and forget it and use the other capable tools provided by DSMLink to tune the engine. Did you look for a customer service number for Siemens? If you can't find one, like I said earlier, I'd set it to 350 us and leave it. For tuning the airflow, you don't do pulls. You rev it to the specified hertz levels described in the articles I linked to and you hold it there. Confirm for me that you understand what those articles are telling you to do, if you don't, tell me what you don't understand.

EDIT: Without fixing the airflow, there's no point in touching the fuel. You always set airflow before dealing with fuel.

Alright, I'm still getting used to V3 so forgive me if I missed something, but from what I saw, you're not in a terrible position, but you've got work to do. First of all, I wouldn't touch the global scalar, at least not yet. Be methodical, read through the calibration methods I linked to above and then rev to each hertz point and play with the appropriate airflow slider until you get the ltft or stft (or both) where you want them to be. Then you need to go out and do those third gear pulls that you're so eager to do and set the higher hertz values. Once you've leveled those out, then you can add fuel. However, the change in airflow will change the characterisitics of the fuel delivery (because once you've calibrated it, the ECU will see more or less air than it did before the calibration and therefore add in more or less fuel). So once you've got the airflow done, do a nice pull and let's see where the air/fuel ratio is at.

Edit: Another thought: Have you done a boost leak test? If not, you need to do that before you do anything else.

Ill change the dead time back to 350us and stick with that. I guess i just saw where it said 50hz and 150hz and i thought thats all i was supposed to do, makes sense im supposed to do everyone in between, guess i just wasnt thinking right . On the maft calibration at the bottom it talks about doing WOT tuning so i saw that and got a bit ahead of myself i guess.

Its been a while since i have done a boost leak test so i could probably use another.

Thanks again for the help.

Tuning takes patience. There's a lot of steps to get through before you get to do the fun stuff like fuel and timing. Read through everything two or three times and make sure you understand it. You wouldn't assemble an engine without reading through the FSM. Tuning's the same way. So like I said, the first thing you need to do if you haven't already is a boost leak test. I don't know how I forgot about that. That would explain a lot of your discrepancies, especially since you're running the stock MAS. So, read through everything I've posted and linked to, make sure you understand it all, if you don't ask for clarification. Then remember: boost leak test, airflow, coolant problem THEN fuel, followed by timing.

Well i fixed a few boost leaks which is good. I pulled out around 13% at 50hz and got the esimated af ratio and actual to match up at idle, though now that im pulling the airflow out my airflowperv is getting down to around .20gm/rev at idle. I used the maf adj: combinedFT as a guide along when reving to the right hz and also pulled out some airflow arond 100 and 150hz.

I guess i have a few questions. I am still working on this, but i would like to make the track next saturday, so if i dont have enough time to get this all lined out will i still be ok to do a few runs at the track? Meaning it should be in open loop at wot so these values dont even matter then right?

Also since im using the stock MAF, is it normal for these values to be off so much? I was doing some street cruising for the airflow adjustments and after i was done with that i did another 3rd gear pull and the a/f ratio's are still off (around 50% in most spots) for the estimated vs actual.

Thanks for the continued help

ok apparently i am retarted for not reading enough into dsmlink yet ,my fault. I didnt know that you had to click on the afratioest and put your injector details in there, i figured it took them from the adjustments under the fuel settings. This really changes things so i did that and looked through my logs again and it reads 9.9 estimated vs 10.5 actual in one spot which is much closer Now that i know that i will retweak my idle and then some very minor adjustments should get me in a good spot!

That sounds pretty good. Although we're now on Version 3, there's a Version 2 PDF guide available on the DSMLink site that I suggest you read through. It will teach you a lot. Like you said, it takes a while to learn everything. To answer your question, I'd say you can take it to the track. Keep an eye on knock, make sure that your check engine light is set to go off in the event of timing retardation due to to knock. Also keep an eye on your coolant temps.
