Alright, Some of you may remember me. About four years ago I had my first DSM '90 Eclipse N/T. After I wrecked that I bought a '91 Talon AWD and got it pretty close to the mid 12's. I ended up breaking off the oil pressure sending unit on it and blew the motor. So I parted that car out. Now after two years of not having a DSM I came across this deal I couldn't refuse. It's a blue '91 Talon AWD and I got it for $1000. The best part about it is that it had a "Snapped T-belt". No big deal right? Well the guy before me bought all the parts to fix it, AND THEN SOME!! New factory sealed head, valves, pistons, rods, bearings. EVERYTHING! Even better it has an EPROM!! So I picked it up later that week brought it home and started ripping the interior out. It is crap. Next came the engine. Got that out, took it apart and found that the T-belt was indeed intact and that one of the intake valves on #1 cylinder had broken off and trashed that cylinder. So I proceeded taking it down to the bare block to see if it would be reuseable. It is, and it's GO TIME NOW!!!! Here is a picture to tide you guys over. I'll keep you all updated as the progress continues....

Hey that was a good deal good luck putting it all back together.Isnt it great to have a project!

Sweet looks like you found a good deal.

But why on earth would somebody buy extra pistons and rods ? Thats a waste of good cash towards something else. Unless he worked there, and did a 5 finger discount. ROFL

Your guess is as good as mine! Yes, he worked at a mitsu dealer. There are some N/T pistons, 2g rods, I put all of it on the classifieds and ebay except for the valves. I'm going to go with the ross/eagle combo if I can get enough out of these stock parts!!

Good chioce. Good luck with the project.

How could you not realize that the belt didn' snap...the top cover is held on by 2 bolts. Some diagnosis. haha.

I don't know what the guy was thinking but I got a great deal on the car and parts!!!

Well, It's been a while since I posted anything new about this car. I ended up selling it to a freind. We had it all torn apart, parts in baggies and labeled correctly. He didn't ever do anything further with it.

So, I bought it back. And now it's getting close to being running. Here is a pic of the engine. Almost ready to get dropped back in. I'm just waiting for my balance shaft removal kit so i can button up the bottom end.

That car better have some balls because that is the gayest blue I have ever seen.

But hey, looks clean.

Hey. Hey. Hey. the camera doesn't pick up the color very well. It's just regular ford blue. Looks better in real life.

It's mostly all stock parts. but i've had good luck with stock engine in the past. It should run Good!!

but you dont have a ford........

looks like a good build. just got my 91 gsx registered, new head, arp studs, mls head gasket, sbr manny. previous owner skipped timing and didnt want to deal with it anymore, i got a hookup on a fresh head, slapped it on, and got her on the road. now im just putting away money, going to start off with all my support and see what i can do with the 14b, then once i max that out ill pick up something that really will test the stcok 4g63 lower end.

what kind of radiator is that??...looks pretty beefy and doesnt look like a fluidyine nor a koyo.

thanks.

It's a Mishimoto Radiator I bought it off ebay. I know "you get what you pay for" but it looks great. Welds are quality and it bolts in. I'll write up a product review after I have used it for about a month but since the car is not running yet there is no true way to test it.

Can't wait to get this car on the road. I have yet to see this car run on it's own. Anxious I guess. More pics:

BTW, Radiator Fits Perfectly, Needed to squeeze the brackets a little but nothing anyone can't do.

Here it is.... All together again. I finally got to see and hear this car run for the first time yesterday. Then, it soon after died. Due to a 16 year old O2 sensor. I replaced that and it is up and a running. I had to wait till today when I received my MR Downpipe in the mail, before I could drive it anywhere. It sounds good although I do have a slight knock in the upper end of the engine close to the cam gear area. I found a thread where people have been having the same problem. The knock sounds a lot like my last car, I think it is genetic with these cars. Anyway once I get it tagged and insured I can finally feel good about taking it out on the road even if it's just around the block.

It runs pretty dang good now that I got the exhaust on. It's amazing how well a fresh motor will run on stock boost. It just runs soo good! Here are some more pictures for you all!!!

You're Right it's been a while since i drove a 12 sec. car!! 2 and a half years!! My GOD has it been that long!!! Oh yea I'll go faster but 15 PSI on stock fuel will work after break in is over. Can only upgrade if the part fails. <----- Deal I made with my wife! I know how to break parts. Haha!! Done this one before!:sneaky:
