3000GT brake upgrade on a 1G??????

hey i heard somewere that the 3000GT SL calipers are a brake upgrade on the 1G's? If so i have a few questions about it ( ive tried the search, and havnt found a thing. Please give me some help on this! What parts do i need for this install if possible. thanks
