I hate stupid people. I'm driving home today, it's icy in my neighborhood. I'm coming around a curve to the left, and some f-150 comes sliding out of control right at me, i panic and nail the brakes and my car starts sliding away from the truck, relief, then BAM, there's the curb, front wheel hits hard and then the back, and the truck just drives off. I think the back is ok, but my front wheel is messed up. the bottom of the wheel is pointing in towards the car and the top outwards. What all could be bent/busted?? Could the axle be messed up??? What should I check for on the back wheel to see if it's ok??

Thanks for any help

Dan

First look at the control arm, hub/knucle, sub frame and inner tie rod....
I just blew my, arm, knucle, and tie rod on my 92 rally car

larry

Cool, thanks. What kinds of things should I look for on the rear to make sure it's still all good?? I think it's ok because the front wheel took most of the blow.

Thanks
Dan

I just slid my 91 Talon into a curb with the driver side front. The wheel's straight up and down but it's pushed back about 2 inches into the body. It's a really sick feeling when you get out and see it, somthing you've worked so hard to get to a certain point get bashed in b/c of a little snow crap. I havent had a chance to take the wheel off and actually look at it so we'll find out. Sorry to hear about your 92'.

Good Luck :talon:

Well my control arm got raped, the end that is supposed to be straight is almost at a 90 degree angle. I replaced that, but the wheel is still not straight up and down, And the front wheel looks like a rolling pretzel when I drive it(just a short test drive). My outer tie rod ends were also bad, all that's replaced and I'm trying to find some wheels so I can get it aligned and be on my way.

:barf: Ugh... I'm glad I'll be having grandpa's winter beater this year...

Yeah, curbs suck. I ramped up one the other day on the phone (Stupid, stupid, stupid...) and I thought I messed up my rims, but lucky for me my tires had the Rim Protector Flange, so it's A-Ok :thumb: . Definitely gonna buy my next set with RPF's.

LOL kinda ironic isnt it? Seems like all the people with awd are getting into accidents in the snow more than people with fwd.

that is kinda weird. I ended up replacing the control arm, tie rod, and replaced the driver side axel. :( If i would have been more careful none of this would have happened. It doesnt matter if you have FWD,RWD,or AWD, if ya drive like an ass your bound to get shit on. :talon: :talon:

That b/c people with fwd's are either too sacred to drive in the snow like me or when you have to go out you drive 5 mph. I drove 6 hrs back from school this past weekend in a complete snow storm the whole way. I was driving in about 3-5 inches of snow for 3 hrs of that trip. Plus my abs is not currently working either. I thought i was going to die b/c the wind was so strong it would actually push my car off the road or into the next lane. Plus being lowered doesn't help either. Half way through the trip my car started to get a little hot b/c all the snow on the ground built up in my front grill and blocked the air passages to the radiator. Luckily i made it ok with no accidents but the 3 1/2 hour trip took me almost 6hrs.

same thing happened to me on the passenger side about a month ago :x
my front cv joints were completely ruined so i wasnt get any power to the front wheels [rwd?] so it rained for the first time here and took a turn, went straight to the curb. It sucked. replaced control arms and tie rod end, but then went to get it aligned and they said it was off, so now i have to find out if my frame is bent? :| crap
