I would like to replace these parts with mostly stock parts except for the shocks. I would like the car to handle alittle more stiff. Would this also mean installing a sway bar both front and rear. Any advice you can give this beginner will be greatly appeciated and if it is in laymans terms so much the better. This is my first time playing with a toy like this

i gotta replace my stock right front ball joint and my left front outer tie rod end i just got back from the dealer a little bit ago...if anyone has had this problem can they give me an estimate for how much it will cost for replacements im not tryin to di*ked over by mitsu...im feelin really depressed i think its gonna cost me over 300 including labor i also have to get a new turbo oil line its leaking very slowly and theres a lil slow leak from around the time belt.....this really sucks can anyone help me with some info of costs??

EclipseGST-95: Have the dealership you went to do the ball-joint recall, and you won't have to pay for it. So long as your car isn't lowered (which your mod list says it isn't), then you should be ok. You will have to pay for the tierod(s) though. I just had the ball-joint recall done on my GSX with no questions asked.

do you think the year difference in my car has anything to do with it....i contacted the recall place today 11/18 and they are gonna contact the rep for the dealership and tell him about the problem...my i didnt have my car when the recall was made back in 2001 the lady i talked to brought up my vin number n said my car was brought in for the recall but the joints werent replaced only sealed with the new sealant....i woudl think that mitsubishi should be responsible for play in the joints....not fair that i got my sprayed back in the day....while other cars got new ones....my car has 59291 miles on it...meanwhile other 95 cars have 80000 which gives them a greater chance of the joints being broken during the recall then mine has...they should definitely replace that s*hit for me.....if they jacked up my car and pushed up on it n the tire moved like a 1/4 inch AT MOST...do you think i can drive on it for a few more weeks before they go n fix it...either way im gettin fixed whether i gotta pay for it or they do....

EclipseGST-95: I was in the exact same boat as you are. The recall had been "sort of" done by a dealership, where they just packed the ball joints with whatever, and then I had them check them again, and they completely replaced them this time.

The recall isn't just a one time deal, it's forever so long as the car is still running, they still have to do it even if it's been in 23802498 times for new ball joints, that's the way this recall from mitsu works. They should do the recall for you without any questions asked.

i got an estimate for two places today...the main dealership called me up this morning while i was cutting first part of school today...and he came up with a total for parts labor and allignment for new tie rods ball joints n turbo oil line gasket....grand total was 957.00...i about passed out then i was like my ball joints were recalled back in 2001 when i didnt own the car...he was like yes they were brought in for service...i said yes service as in they sprayed them with sealant...they did not replace them...he said hold on ..he checked the records got back on the phone and was like yea you are right they didnt replace them i was like so mitsubihi is responsible for replacing them he said yea they are i said whats my total now he was like a lot less i was like how much like 300 he was like 321 i was sooo ####in happy thats still a lot of money but its certainly not 1000...if the ball joints go out on me again i dont think they will replace them a 2nd time...am i correct?

No, the ball-joint recall is forever. That is what my dealership in minnesota told me. So long as you have not done anything that they could/would say caused the ball-joints to wear (i.e. lowering the car) they have to do the ball-joint recall. In theory you could have your car in 23030 times for new ball-joints, and assuming it wasn't because you lowered your car 4", they would have to keep replacing them. That's the way this recall works from Mitsu.

Glad to hear you got about 700 bucks knocked off your bill......
