i just got some cheap coilovers off ebay and i was wondering what kind of shocks to buy. i was hoping to lower it 2inches. i dont want my shocks to blow out or anything else to happen. help would be appreciated.

i wouldn't suggest agx's on a 2g. they dont have enough travel in them. if the car bottoms out, you'll sen the rod through the bottom of the shock. tokico's might be a better choice for you.

we use struts

Well i just found the answer to my own question...this was from another post awhile back ...i guess KYB fixed the problem with the AGX shock for the 2G. The person emailed KYB and this is his post:

"PLEASE READ! PLEASE READ!!!!!!
OK guys! I just got the scoop on the KYB AGX shocks and lowering your Eclipse! They told me that if you run your "stock" springs with there front shocks then you will have no problem with the setup. The problem is only with the fronts when you lower it with aftermarket springs. The back shocks are not a problem and will work with any spring setup, the right p/n for them is: 741019. If you lower your car using aftermarket springs, like me, then you need the "NEW" p/n which is: 741042. They just made this change in Aug. 2002, so look at your p/n if you bought them to use with lowering springs and make sure you have 741042 for the front! I didn't, I bought mine a long time ago and now I need to buy new ones. They indeed are an 1" to long, which is probably why my front has so much wheel gap! I hope this helps everyone out. So my setup will no be:

741042 - Front shocks
741019 - Rear shocks
Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs.

p.s. - Here is the e-mail I got!

741018 was the old number,
741042 is the new number, with the correct body length.

741018 will work with stock size springs only on the Eclipse.
Yes the 741018 fits the Galant.
741018 are not defective shocks. If you bought them after August '02 you
should of gotten the part number 741042.
If you bought them before then the part store should of told you that they
will only work with stock size springs.
