hey kids, i took my suspension apart on my 97 tsi awd and every bolt is rusted on. an air compressor wasnt even getting them off. i tried everything. my new springs and shocks are sitting in boxes and they wanna be installed FAST!! the main bolts im having trouble with are the bolts on the top of the shock that holds the cap which holds the shock and spring together. im sad, please help. thanks

i tried that. it helped with some bolts but i need the bolts on the top of the shock off, when i try taking it off the whole rod turns inside the shock. is there some special tool i can get to hold the shock rod in place to get that bolt off?

isn't there a flat spot on there that you are supposed to lock on to anyway to hold the rod still? you could try heating it with a torch and tapping on it to knock the rust loose. its helped on stuck exhaust mani. bolts:p
