Auto awd Tight steering.

I recently put in a new Manual rack, new lower ball joints, new tie rod ends, new wheel bearings. Got a alignment done in my auto awd.

I would expect with the automatic trans weight and a welded diff that steering would be a little harder, but the car feels like a dump truck

I can not turn the car safely without two hands. Steering wheel whips back insane. Even when I turn and go straight again the steering wheel will not be center like the rack or something is moving, then slowly straighten itself out. I checked the mounting points and all is good.

Any ideas?

any resolution? i have a 1.8 manual rack and a depowered (miatia mod) rack ready to go into my auto. trying to decide which rack or if i should bother.

Check your control arm bushings, and any steering bushings for play.

You can't do shit about the bumping though, gotta deal with it. A far as the hard steering, that's how manual racks behave in general, time to hit the gym.

Yeah it's just the nature of have the auto in the car. When it was stick it was easier. My buddies galant vr4 has a manual rack and it's easy, it also has a 4 spider diff which helps I'm sure 10 fold.

Tires and tire pressure make a big difference in how hard the car steers. I run 35-40psi on the street and can steer my car just fine, then when I drop them to 20 for the track I can barely steer it at low speeds.
