Does anyone know of a link that has statistics for stopping distances on the 1G/2G TEL vehicles? Looking to see if there's any hard data that exists showing an improvement if I upgrade my 91 to the 92 1/2+ OEM front brakes.

Thanks in advance

I got 138 feet via G-tech on my stock brakes. If you can believe it, last time I tried it with my Baer setup, I was still at about 136 feet--virtually no change. But, the rubber didn't change (a very big factor in braking distances) and I think I am bottoming my front suspension out under hard braking. I'll try again on the track when my tires are hot and hopefully again when I get 245 tires.

Thank you for the feedback!

This does kind of confirm what I was thinking that you really don't get too close to the 20% figure when someone quotes "up to 20% shorter braking distances" unless you upgrade everything else...

Since I'm in Chicago, and I have to worry about some of the all weather conditions, I'm not really going to put on the biggest dry weather tires I can find.

I'm guessing that the most that the bigger brakes really help with is to reduce/eliminate fade.

Thanks again!

i thought bigger brakes dont really help in the distance stopping they just have better heat cycles and take alot more abuse without overheating

They definitely weigh more and can absorb more heat. The larger brakes are also MUCH easier to modulate. I have SST lines all around, no ABS. With Performance Friction O1 compound on the front and Porterfield RS-4 on the rear, I can hop on the brakes at about 125 MPH HARD on the straights at VIR and it is a non-event. They just grab! I have had zero problems with fade.

You are right, bigger brakes typically don't help stopping distances much. When I did that 138 foot stop stock, after my third stop, I could no longer lock the fronts up--terrible fade. I made 10 back-to-back stops from 60 MPH with my Baers and they actually start to work better as the pad compound and tires heat up. My 10 stop was actually my shortest. Next time I am at the track and my tires are nice and hot, I'll try it again and see what I can muster.
