Hello,

I'm looking for a setup that will drop my 99gsx 3". I've found many setups for 2", and a few for 2.5", but none for 3". I'm not looking for something super stiff, but I would like something more aggressive than my stock setup that will give me a 2.5-3" drop.

Thanks.

That doesn't make any sense.. You DD your car and you wanna drop it 3ins??? I hate DDing my car at sportlines height

I have h&r race springs 1.75 front and 2.0 rear.I like the way it looks but I wish I went a bit higher.I dont like driving it this low if I could do it over it would have got H&R sport springs.

Dropping that low is going to put your alignment way out of whack. The kits you see may need more fitment adjustability to get a decent angle out of them. Like pillowball mounts being hogged out to correct the camber on the front end.

3" drop.

These contradict each other. The more you lower your car, the stiffer the suspension needs to be. I'd recommend not more than a 1" drop on the DSM.

To answer the question:

If you do not mind riding around on the bumpstops, you could actually get some really "price effective" coilovers such as those found on ebay and drop them down to the bumpstops. The ride quality will obviously be horrendous, but won't be on your list of concerns if your looking for the scrapping the pavement look. The rear camber will be obscene, so you may want to address that with a camber correction kit. If you do this, do me a favor and look under the front of your car at all those suspension bits before you slam it, and then after you slam it. The difference you see is why it will ride like it will.

My advice:

Get adjustable coilovers with appropriate (stiffer than stock!) rates. When you install them, just slam the car (I did LOL take it around the block, and show your friends. Heck, take a few pictures with the camera all angled and stuff. If you have a SO, give them a ride. Then take it home and adjust the height so that there is ~1" drop total. Repeat above. Sleep on it, and decide in the morning.

If you decide that you like a slammed car over ride quality, than that's just an adjustment away. (And vice versa should you tire of that)

+1^^^ That pretty much sums it up.

Dropping that low is going to put your alignment way out of whack.

He should be doing an alignment regardless of dropping an inch or three.

The kits you see may need more fitment adjustability to get a decent angle out of them.

Huh?

Like pillowball mounts being hogged out to correct the camber on the front end.

It's going on a 2g which uses a "dual a arm" front suspension. Pillowball mounts will do nothing to correct camber. Adjustable upper control arms/ball joints will.
