I am wondering if some of you 1G owners could comment on what offset you have with aftermarket rims and if you have a brake kit or the big brake upgrade(twin piston caliper)

I want to make sure that when I order a set of wheels that they fit in conjunction with the twin piston calipers without me having to slap a spacer on there, I hate spacers, they are nothing but a weak link.

I am going to be going with 17 by 7.5" wheels and using a 225-40-17(or 45 aspect ratio). The offset I am considering is right in between at +40, the range is from +38 to +45.

My goal is..

A. to have the wheels work with the larger calipers without the spokes running into them and

B when standing in front of or to the rear of the car and looking along side it I don't want to see wheels sticking out past the fenders and

C to not have to use a spacer.

Thanks for any responses

I am running 42 mm offset on 17X8 and they clear Baer 13" brakes. I know the stock wheels, 16X6 (6.5? can't remember) with 46mm offset will clear the big brakes. If I had to guess, I would say that any 17" wheel would clear Big brakes.

ok. do your wheels stick out at all? Its looks like they may be a little more robust than the stock 16's but they don't actually "stick out"

and I will be using aem 12.5" rotors with the twin pot calipers.

oh, and when referring to the number(offset), which moves the center section further in or out, the higher number or lower?

and I went to dsm.org to try and research this but it gave me a "forbidden" page, and not available or some crap like that.

I just don't wanna spend a lot of money on a set of wheels (and the ones I been looking at are not cheap!) and then have them not fit properly.

thanks for the reply :thumb:

Here is a link to discount tires explanation of Offset:

Basically, the smaller the number the deeper the wheel.

If you are dropping some serious money on the wheels then the shop you are getting them from should be more than willing to help.

I am running 17x7.5 with a 42 offset and the 13" Baer system. I have no issues and nothing sticks out of the fender.
