I recently did the AWD swap on my spyder with NON ABS components and was curious if running the ABS system (abs brake lines, abs cylinder) would be a safety issue if its not functioning.

Is this a safety issue? Should I completely convert the sytem to NON ABS?
What is needed besides the NON ABS brake lines?

Thanks

I am not positive on a 2g, but I did the non-abs conversion on my 1g last summer.

I used the non-abs brake lines because I removed the ABS motor and the line routing is different.

On a 1g, I believe the master cyl is the same if that is the "cylinder" you were referring to. You could always check the part numbers for both at advanceautoparts.com to see if they are the same for your 2g.

I also switched the proportioning valve. (on the fire wall where all the lines go into) The % of braking force sent to the front & rear is different on the non-abs cars. I don't know how much different.

It is best to completely remove the ABS motor & valve body, since it will reduce the braking force applied when not functioning but still in line with the braking system. I know my brakes felt firmer after the conversion. Before that, I had just pulled the ABS relay until I could do the swap since the motor was fried. Its not my DD though.
