1996 gs-t spyder question

i am purchasing a set of 17 inch rims and tires... i am also purchasing a set of sprint 2 inch drop springs. well i went outside today and was just kinda checking out my suspension and i notived somthin that is kinda scary... with stock rims and suspension i notives that there is a C shaped bar that is between the tire and spring ( sorry dont know anything about suspension) and i stuck my hand in it and noticed that there is only like 1 inch clearance between my tire and ther curved bar.. now i could probably runthe rims ok but if the springs drop the car 2 inches and that c shaped bar drops with it it will be sitting right on the tire!!?!?! does that stay put or does it drop? can i even drop my spyder? HELP

I dropped my Spyder alot on 18 inch rims and 225/40/18 series tires. I'm fine.

No it wont drop you will be fine with 17s and a 2inch drop
