Custom Brakes...

I wouldn't trust that seller, beside how are you going to replace the brakes when the time comes? That's just pure waste of money, you don't need 4-piston brakes with T28 turbo. Trust me, focus on other mods before jumping to 4-piston race brakes. They ain't for normal street driving, they will stop on contact.

I wasnt planning on buying them I was just showing a new design that I had never seen before.

this is a true price break down that ebay kit.

2- 4 piston superlite calipers, $130 a piece
2- aluminum brake hats, $20 a piece
2- drilled slotted rotors $50 a piece
1- proportioning valve $40
brake fluid $25
adapter piece $20-30
street pads $40 Race pads >$130

4 piston arent a big deal as much as just going to a larger 2 piston caliper (bigger than the awd). I would go with something like a crown vic rotor and something in a 2 piston caliper that you can find race pads for.

That is a nice looking setup, but the brake bias will undoubtedly be affected.

If I did even more open tracking events that setup would probably replace my 13" BAER/Mustang Cobra setup.

I know the guy who makes this kit... his name is adam... and he is very knowledgeable about the brake setup, and what its capable of. I do not know if that is who is selling the kit, but the guy who designed it and originally made it work has his $#!t together for lack of a better term.

ask the seller a few questions and if its him, you will be flooded with information.

I would have his very first kit, but I had to finish up a few other things before spending money in the braking category.

just my .02

I too know, and can vouch for Adam. I'd feel comfortable calling him an expert with both DSMs and higher end imports (i.e. Porsches, etc.). He really knows his stuff, and I'm sure this kit performs well. It's not the generic eBay fare,

What is the piston area of this kit? Your post suggests that you know the answer.

I would guess 38 and 44mm. Although I could be the 36mm / 44mm combo (but unlikely considering these are the monoblock calipers).

Back of the napkin math says that these would have pretty good bias on say a 11" - 11.5" rotor.

(Edit: I listed bore sizes above, I'll leave the area math for you guys and my little friend named Pi.)

Guys I'm the one who built that kit. I've been around the DSM, ASEC, and TAHB forums for quite a long time and just reside now with the Porsche community doing my shop and machine work. I'm not going to bullshit anyone, let alone scam someone on Ebay.

It is the last of those particular Boxster caliper kits I have left. The rear setup is no longer available, just this particular front kit. I only work with the larger 996/997 Turbo 4 piston and the 6 piston monoblock Porsche CGT/GT2/GT3 PCCB calipers now.

Ask me anything you want to know about this kit and I'll get back to you. I've had alot of interest in the kit with various questions, most being people demanding I "Give it to them for $1000" or some shit like that. If it doesn't sell I'll just rework the parts into something else..

I can understand how he feels on this one. Not every plan you lay makes the most sense in the end and not all product sells.

On the other hand, with due respect, the $1350 price tag is pretty hard to justify when you compare it to the Wilwood box kit for about $400 less. Yes, yes...perhaps the Porsche caliper is a better part in some ways but for joe average buyer you'd never know it. Putting together that kit I certainly know the hard parts cost of the Wilwood parts but like myself, I cannot compete with my own supplier. Meaning I cannot build the Wilwood DP caliper kit with drilled options by line item part for much less than I can retail it for complete.

If this one was down at about $1000-1100 it might make some more sense but everyone is certainly entitled to a profit. Although still probably not as much as one might think this has. If someone can find me those hats for $20ea and the rotors for $50...please let ME know where!

I hope you are all aware that unless you re-plumb the entire system, you will need 2 adjustable proportioning valves, thanks to our "unique" diagonal layout.

Even with 2, a lot of changes in the plumbing will need to be made, like routing around the stock 6 port valve.

Screw the whole corner-to-corner set-up. Just run one line from the MC to the fronts and the other through the prop-valve to the rears.

I guess that's what I meant by "re-plumb the entire system". ;)
