Hi,
i got my turbo integra stolen recently, so i'm looking into a new car. Basically, i have come down between two cars...240sx (with sr20det swap and what not) or an eclipse GSX. Now i understand there might be some bias this being a DSM forum, but try not to be if u can. I honestly think a 240sx will outhandle a gsx, but how much worse in handling is a gsx? 240sx = good handling, good potential as an overall car, pretty ugly though and the interior isn't too hot. GSX = ?? handlin??, very very good power potential, comfortable, and i think it looks decent. I plan to hit up the road course often like i did before, and i'm lookin for the superior track car. let's see ur opinions.

if you do any drag racing at all go with the GSX. If you just want something to drift in and be a jack ass go for the 240

240SX will give you more original bang for your dollar originally, but if you're going to spend big bucks, a 2G will serve you better.

Just make sure you stiffen the chassis. On both of them (If you get a Hatchback 240sx).

As opposed to just drag racing and being a jackass, Wikkedson? Don't dog it just cause it isn't your personal style. You won't make very many friends like that.

I've debated this idea through and through, what it really boils down to is... You've just bought a car, and now you have to spend another 3G's to turbo it/swap turbo motor in, or would you rather have a car that comes factory with a turbo. Most of the 240 parts are imported and require a good wait while most GSX parts can be found anywhere on the web with an excellent grassroots level of support from smaller tuner shops. If it was my money I would go with the GSX hands down...but that's just me

i would honostly go w/ the gsx. It has a lot of potential, its awd, it looks real nice. The 240sx on the other hand also has a lot of potential, its rwd(ultimate drifting car), and it also looks good. It will take less work to get the gsx to where u want it. With the 240sx it will be hard to get the engine, do the labor, but once its all done u will be happy. for the 240sx, if u want to get a part, exOMGil filter, u cannot get it from a local parts store, u will have to special order it due to the fact that u will probably do the sr20det swap. So it really just depends on how much $ u have, what u like more, and how much patience u have. i hope this helps.

okay cool...one more question...
say both cars had the same setup like JIC suspension.
which car would handle better? heavy AWD? or nimble light RWD?

Well I have both. From my experience I regret not going with the 240sx personally. My brother has a 91' with an sr20det in it and we sorta share cars. Hands down, if you were able to spend the same money on suspension for the 2 cars (and it was over like 2k) then the 240sx would spank the gsx. We go to auto-x and I lose to my bro all the time. Drag racing and street racing and everything else isnt a contes either. Both have great potential for all categories if you ask me. My brothers car is very fast in a straight line as well. Gsx's handle very well also and can be set up very nicely for racing ( i do auto-x). :thumb:

how i see it with the money you will put into the 240 i would save it and put it into the gsx...while it may be harder to squeeze out more handling performance you can overcome some of that with brute force.

I guess alot depends on what year 240 you decide to get also. Lighter cars always seem to handle better. Less weight transfer etc...
Thats why alot of Crx's and Miata's tear up the autoX events.
There are alot of other reasons too but thats a big part of it.

The sr20det swap will also cost you a bit of money. Where as you could just buy a stock GSX, do free mods and have more HP.

Also it depends on you as the driver, what you are comfortable with and like to drive on the road course.
