My rotors from thespeedfactor are different..??

One rotor has the lines in them and are shiny while the other one doesn't have the lines and isn't as shiny looking. What's with that?

Looks like the bottom one has some kind of overspray of paint on it. They well be fine, the lines and shinyness will be gone once you start braking anyways. But the rotor is fine and go ahead and install them :thumb:
 
Does the one with what looks like overspray on it have those same hone marks under it? it almost looks like it could have it. clean off both with brake cleaner and you should be good to go. they might have been from different batches. those hone marks are to help with pad break in i do believe.
 
Nope only one has the hone marks...guess one rotor isn't gonna have assistance in breaking in. They're only on the rear though so maybe it'll be okay. Not worth sending back right?
 
You should be fine with those. A hundred miles later, you won't be able to tell them apart. If you like, you can match the un-"honed" one by using some 200-grit on a sanding block and going around a couple of times. But it'd only be for your own mind.

Just out of curiousity, which way to they say to run them? Slots sweeping "out", or "in"?

Those look like PowerSlots, which sweep outwards. And I know I don't have to say this to you, but in the front you must look at the vanes to be sure and not get distracted by the slots.

They didn't say, but it doesn't matter b/c there's no vanes right? I'll probably just match them to the direction of my baers.
 
Try to keep "slots" and "vanes" separate in your mind and use the correct terms.

They are (non-early-95) 2G rears, so they don't have vanes, but they clearly have slots.

that is a dangerous statement for others to read.

Granted they are vane-less so it does not matter, but if they HAD vanes each manufaturer is different, and thay may not be the same.

there not fine the one on the bottom did not get a final finish and did not get roughened up. it going to hert your brake in and may not work right. ruff it up with a some very light sand paper. or send them back.
 
I'm hoping that after 3 years, the original poster was able to get those pads broken in okay.

Please remember to look at post dates before you decide to reply. How did you even find this in the first place?
