Ok,

So I was out yesterday afternoon after a short spell of rain, and I lost traction. My car slid, and I nailed the curb with my front passenger tire. The wheel has been pushed back far enough that it has a really bad rub against the fender well, and is pitched outward about 10 degrees. I'm positive I need to replace the control arm, but as for what else, I'm not sure. Here are my main questions:

1) CAN I USE FWD CONTROL ARMS? I have searched, and found mixed results. One guy said I can use 2.0 FWD control arms, but not 1.8. Other threads have said I need AWD control arms. This is an issue because there is a junkyard near buy with about a dozen FWD DSM's, but no AWD cars.

2) What should I look for when picking a used replacement control arm?

3) BESIDES THE CONTROL ARM, DO YOU THINK ANYTHING ELSE COULD BE DAMAGED? I was only going about 25-30 when I lost traction, so about 20-25 depending on how much I was able to slow down. What else should I check in the suspension for damage. by eyeball and the fact that the wheel hub steers, it looks fine, but I don't really know much about suspension, so any advice I can get is a plus.

Thanks,

Greg :dsm: :talon:

Hello Greg. I don't know about the fwd control arms but for a used one, I would put a new balljoint and stabilizer bar endlink. Also check the shock body to see if it's bent or damaged. The wheel bearing could also be damaged. Mine was when I hit a curb with my Talon! Maybe you'll have to change the hub because the hole where the balljoint is attached was damaged. Also check the axle boot to see if it's leaking grease. I wish you good luck! It doesn't take much to scrap suspension components ...I know
