Alrite I know what is wrong with my car but i don tknow the name of the part and i want to ask how hard it is to change out this part or should i try to weld it and add the missing bolts. I added this pictures i got it off my DSM Backup Manual CD. Last nite i was going home and i hit a hard bumb at the shopping center then my car started making a crazy load noise on the right side of the wheel so i get o ut and check my motor mounts there fine and then i see that three of lugs BROKE OFF! so i was drving with one lug nut! the tire was moving so i take of one lug of my other tires so it has at least three so the Noise GOES AWAY! and the car is dribable but i notice that the tire is still moving so i Drive Home and Jack up the car and I notice that the tire has no strength I Notice Twoo Missing Bolts ON the "STAY" so i think its just that but then i look up more and see that its cracked down the middle, I think its called the Croos Center Member? it holds the sway bar? and some other lower control arms on the suspension. My Question is how much is this part going to cost me if i buy it new of the dealer i am goign to search the Junk yards see if i can get it used! and 2 How hard will it be to change this part out? 3 Can i replace the two bolts and then weld the cracked area together! ireall dont want to do this but if it will work its an option. damn after this i feel like gving up on my DSM!Q! its just awwwww! But i gotta see whats going to happen with this i might just fix it and sale it and get my self a GSX! Well thanks and Any help will be greatly apprecieted and if your not going to help me out then dont even bother posting thanks and i hope I made sense! i am jsut pissssed of right now! if you have any questions please IM me or POM me back thanks again ! KEEP YOUR HEAD UP! my fellow DSMers!!

Be sure to replace everything that looks borken or is broken. Suspension stuff is VERY important. Just hit the junk yards and get all the items you need to replace the broken or looks broken items. Then get the car to an alignment shop right away and have it aligned after you swap the good parts onto the car.

Thats waht i am talking about prez! hah some help thanks bro that was fast! really grateful! i am going to hit the junkyard in a bit when i have a ride! well thanks again and i will keep you guys updated daily thanks! good luck!

Your welcome man. I just lost a wheel on the interstate doing 80MPH and ruined my entire right rear suspension when it slammed into the interstate doing 80MPH. Luckilly I had a 1G parts car laying around to replace the parts for the 1G that fell at 80MPH.

Just be safe and remember suspension is nothing to go cheap or be stingy on. Make sure it gets done right and you'll be alright.

I happen to have replaced the part you are mentioning. I will tell you this. It is a PAIN IN THE ASS to replaced. Mine split very similar to yours. I noticed it because my alignment went south and I eventually lost an axle. Unfortunately, just about everything in the front of your car is connected to the front crossmember. Here's a basic blow by blow of what needs to be removed to swap it. Keep in mind this is on a 1g. Though I can't imagine it would be too different on a 2nd gen except for the control arm part.

#1 remove the wheels
#2 remove the control arms
#3 remove the downpipe
#4 remove the other crossmember piece that runs from the front of the car and bolts onto the crossmember piece you are trying to remove (you don't have to do this, but it makes life easier)
#5 remove the front swaybar
#6 remove the steering rack (major PITA)
#7 Unbolt the rear motor mount. (don't forget to support the engine)
#8 remove the front crossmember bolts and it drop out

To reassemble you just do this in reverse order.

Like I said, PAIN IN THE ASS.

Now you could get it welded and replace the bolts though the crossmember itself may have bent like mine. If that's the case, you're better off just replacing it. Besides, you'll have to take it off to get it welded and replace those bolts anyway.

Thanks for the Break Down! I went today to the Junk Yard and they want 175+Tax i only went to one junkyard i am going to hit up a few more tommorow! but thanks i am going to just buy it becuase its pretty bad but thanks again for your help! From looking at the damage i know it was going to be a pain to replace! DAMN WHY DID I EVER TEST DRIVE THIS CAR HAHAHHAAH but thanks and i will keep you guys updated for now i am stuck at home!!!!! awwwww
