Hi there, I purchased a used Fireball ignition for my 1992 auto car. The problem I've having is it came with a Tach adapter unit and not the electronic trigger shown in the instructions. After I found the instructions online, I see Crane specifies that all 91-95 need an "electronic trigger" unit in order to function. I believe the guy I bought it from must have had it in a 1990 car. After doing a little searching (not much out there on the HI6-2), I've read the trigger unit isn't needed? I think I saw this while reading through some wiring instructions for a MSD unit, so I don't know if it applies to my scenario. Any help is appreciated, I really want to get this installed so I can stop using the stock fuel cut rev limit for launching my auto.

One other thing that the instructions are a little unclear about is the wiring at the ignition module? Can be found on page 5 of the attached pdf.

In the circled portion of the wiring diagram below, am I supposed to intercept (bypass the igintion module) pins 1, 2 and 3 or am I just supposed to tap into them? Then do I leave pins 4-8 alone and connected? Thanks again for any help.

Well I thought I'd post up the results to this one. Just as I thought, the Electronic trigger is not necessary on 1G's. Apparently it's only needed for OBD II cars to simulate coil load and avoid CEL's.

Easy day, here's what I did:

I used the stock trigger wires and wired them into the crane ignition. These are the red and white wires on the coil pack harness side, and yellow/green and yellow/black wires on the vehicle harness side (of the triangle plug). The polarity of the coil pack is swapped when using the crane ignition and the capacitor must be removed, so for this, I simply swapped the existing wires on the coil pack in order to keep the stock plug on the coil pack harness. I had to drill out the hole/eye on the smaller terminal just a hair so it would fit, but it only took a second.

Then Since I have an extra '92 parts car sitting in the back, I harvested the plugs and pigtails off of it's harness and coil pack in order to make it a plug and play deal!

I also wired the stage 1 rev limit input to the brake pedal switch under the dash so I can use a spark cut rev limit for the launch, it's so much smoother than the stock fuel cut type limiter. I'm still using the stock limiter for my red line.

I scanned the generic two dual tower coil instructions after I noted the changes needed for a 91+ 1G car.
