who uses redline shockproof in tranny

I was just wondering who uses redline shockproof in there tranny, either full amount or proportions with other brands. I heard it is not god to use it in the tranny but i have been usinf it for 7 months. I used 1 part shock proof and 2 parts bg syncroshift.

Eh, you _can_ run in to troubles with various companies' emulsifiers fighting one another, leading to the grease just dying and leaving you soap and oil in the gearbox. But I've never heard of it happening. I use and recommend [repeatedly] Pennzoil Synchromesh, it's GM Synchromesh without the GM price and goddamned GM counter man between me and it (it's suspected they're called "counter men" because it's their job to counter anything you say or think: "The customer is alway full of shit". Which I supposed you'd have to be to buy a Chevy in the first place, let alone try to polish the goddamned turd).

Anyway, I also go with these guys:

they say to use the shockproof in the transfer case and rear end. It probably doesn't have the friction modifiers you want in the synchros.

You might also want to give Redline a call, they're straight-shooters and always helpful to people who might be customers.

^^ 2nd what Defiant said (minus the GM rant )

I use Synchromesh (GM, Pennsoil, Texaco, or Quaker State - it is all the same product made to GM/Chrysler specs). Since is not SAE rated, we really don't know what's in it or what it is compatible with. I wouldn't mix it with anything, especially a synthetic GL-5 like Shockproof.
