Shift into first, release clutch then GRINDS! :(

I'm able to engage into everygear but once I'm in first and release the clutch all I get is grinding and it falls out of of gear. I did a search and found it might be my shifter linkage, but I dont know how to adjust it. Also, is it bad to start in second gear now?(I have a act 2600). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, its bad, time only holds when 2nd gear is gonna go. 2600 does no mercy to any part of the drive train. I think it just screwed my carrier bearings some how for my driveshaft. Im trying to find out how much they cost and what kind of noises they make when they go bad.

But yeah try and get that first gear problem fixed. Most likely your first gear is gone. But maybe it isnt.

Yeah, maybe it is gone. I'm not sure though......I'm thinking it just might be the linkage that is off. I drove it for 20 minutes and it was all fine. Got back in the car 15 mins later and it started doing this. I'm going to try to out the car into first manually (without using the shifter) and see if that helps at all. If it is fine when I do that then I know its the linkage that is off. If not....well.... then that means my first gear is really gone. Hopefully I'll find a guide on how to put the tranny in first without using the linkage cables. I'll keep you guys updated.

Turns out I need a new first gear synchro and gear set. How much do you think it will cost me, also how much would it be to install, could I do it myself? It's at the dealer right now

yeah you might wanna rebuild the whole tranny at a transmission shop.unless your a mechanic you can't do it yourself.i'm in miami and one of my mechanic friends is a specialist in manual trannys so if your close by holler and maybe he'll do the job 4 u
