I've gotten alot of the things done, but am kinda confused on one of the steps...

It says to remove the "Lower Control Arm" 2 large bolts and 2 small nuts at the frame.

But I don't see 2 and 2...only 1 and 1. Also, there aren't very detailed pictures for this section, removing the parts connected to the wheel hub and all...

Am I basically just taking the whole thing apart?"

ANy advice?

the 2 large bolts run front to back. They are very long, however I forgot the sizes. It is almost the bottom most piece looking straight towards the opposite side of the car under the brakes. The whole arm will come off. it looks like ]------------[. You are basically trying to take it apart so that you can tilt it back and swing the axle out of the way ... Ill see if I can find pics.

as for the other piece if you are standing on the passenger side looking straight across at the drivers side the piece underneath that points the most towards your drives side back wheel will have 2 bolts holding it to the subframe. Take those out and the piece will kind of just drop down. Then you can swing the whole assembly back and forth once the axle is pulled out.

Thanks...I'm going to take a stab at it. Wish me luck! And pics would still help.

if you point to the piece and which side of the piece the bolts are on, I can figure it out from there. That curved piece I cannot free from the side mounted to the frame...only the side the wheel mounts to. The bolt simply won't move.

Suspension is free...but how do I remove this driveshaft? It doesn't have any obvious seperation points really.

Any one with pics able to help out here?

LOL...thanks for all the assistance.

just stick a crowbar between the tranny and the green part of the driveshaft and pry as hard as you can. This is a pain in the ass and it takes A LOT of prying.

On the drivers side there are 2 14mm bolts holding the half shaft, just take those off and it will slide out when you start to sperate the trans from the motor.

Ok...I'll try that. I just got my clutch and flywheel in as well. I won't be able to work on the car again until tomorrow, but I'll post here an update when I've worked a bit.

Quick thought...if it's so hard to get out, how the hell do I get it back in?

Also, another thing to mention - when removing the D/S, make sure you keep is straight. Otherwise you'll tear a boot on the lobro joint, which is a bi*** and a half to repair.

ok...I"m drunk off my ass tonight, bu ttoomrrow i'lll try it.

No, he's talking about pulling the axles out of the transmission. Use a large screwdriver, or a prybar, and pop them out. Just be careful not to tear the seals.

ok...I have a prybar and will attack it once I lift the car higher. After I get it free, how do I take it out? Just pull and take the suspension with it, or does it disconnect from the wheel hub and all that crap the suspension was connected to?

Actually, I was referring to the driveshaft. The driveshaft has a joint behind one of the carrier bearings that has a boot on it. It's somewhat like a U joint - it allows the driveshaft to flex a little. If you tear the boot by allowing one end of the driveshaft to hang while you unbolt the other end, you'll rip the boot and have to rebuild the joint.

Here's a short thread about it.... If you pick up a Chilton's manual, they have a section on what it is and rebuilding it under the driveline chapter.

yea dude just pull on the suspension and pull the axle out and turn it out of the way. That's why you had to unbolt all that stuff earlier where you weren't sure where the bolts were. On the drivers side you don't have to do anything ... just take off the 2 14mm bolts and it will seperate on it's own when you pull the trans away from the motor. Check out vfaq.com it tells you how to do it all or even on this site in the how to section.

ALright...now I have the tranny ready to be lowered, but it's caught on something. I've spent the last 2 hours trying to figure out what/why, but came up with no answers.

It's stuck right near where the water pump is. I can't for the life of my pry it or lower it or do anything...and there aren't any bolts left in it. Help...
